COVID-19: As we move forward, it is important for you to monitor your child (and others who live in your home) for COVID-19 related symptoms. We ask that you call your primary healthcare provider for further instructions and get a test for active COVID-19 infection. STAY HOME until the test results are received. Please call the Kennedy attendance number (446-4206) if your child is ill or has an appointment. We will call you directly if your child has been in close contact with a positive case of COVID - it will not be an automated call.
Distance Learning Days: Please check each of your children's distance learning assignments to be sure they are complete and ready to be turned in when they return. This is there ATTENDANCE for those days. No homework means ABSENT. Too many absences will be submitted to the Student Attendance Review Board for follow up.
As a reminder, allowing children to compete their own work builds practice, responsibility, and grit. If your child is struggling with the work, please contact their teacher.
Teacher Availability: Teacher are teaching and preparing lessons every day from 7:55 until 3:00. If you will be out of town and miss a face-to-face day, please email your teacher 24-hours unadvanced for assignments (This means: Group 1 email by Tuesday at 2:00 and Group 2 by Thursday at 2:00). Teachers will not be able to answer any emails or phone calls between 7:55 and 2:40. The best way to reach a teacher is to email them or leave a message and they get back to you when they are able.

The 2020-21 Reflections art theme is…”I Matter Because”
For 50 years, National PTA’s Reflections program has helped students explore their own thoughts, feelings and ideas, develop artistic literacy, increase confidence and find a love for learning that will help them become more successful in school and in life. Each year, over 300,000 students in Pre-K through Grade 12 create original works of art in response a student-selected theme. The theme for the 2020-2021 program year is I Matter Because.
Students submit their completed works of art in one or all of the available arts categories. Nationally these are: Dance Choreography, Film Production, Literature, Music Composition, Photography, and Visual Arts. Students are encouraged to submit in more than one category. Student entries are divided into two age categories: Kindergarten through 2nd grade and 3rd through 5th grade. Entries are then judged and submitted to the state PTA office.
Kennedy PTA encourages all Comets to take part in the 2020-21 competition. We are going to hold two Zoom kick-off sessions on October 12th and 21st starting at 6:30pm. Parents and children are encouraged to attend to find out more information about Reflections.
