GFEC Math Leadership Meeting w/ Liz Endicott: At this meeting we looked at numeracy strategies for intervention students. We also looked at MSTEP scores and SAT scores from around the county. We are completing instructional rounds with teachers in other area schools. Jenna will be observed first for our December meeting.
MAEIA Pilot for Arts Assessment w/ Donovan Tear: How assessments and standardized testing affects evaluations of arts educators. Ready-to-use arts units and lessons aligned with the National Arts Standards for purposes of fine arts evaluations.
ELA Leadership Meeting w/ Beth Bush: Looked at Essential Instructional Practices in Early Literacy. Also discussed word study, using Illuminate to track DRA, and guided reading groups.
ASL Network w/ Jennifer McKay: Each ASL teacher shared an assignment that they do in class and that was awesome. We also learned new Deaf expressions..... a key part of ASL grammar. It rocked and in my 18 years of teaching this is the first time that I was able to meet with other ASL teachers in Michigan!!
Tech To Teach w/ McKay: Helped other teachers learn Aurasma. Learned how to use Word Press for my 0 hour students to post their video blogs. I created a Blog for an example. :) It is fun to learn all of the new technology to use in the classroom!!
School Improvement Conference w/ Elizabeth Buckhold: On the first day, I co-presented on using MEL (Michigan Electronic Library) as a tool in project-based learning. If you'd like to learn more, you can check out the presentation.
The keynote speaker and 2nd day facilitator was Eric Jensen, author of many books on teaching students in poverty. He offered an entire day of brain-based strategies to help students learn. Here's 6 of them for a brief review.
