Today, the laurel tree grows all over the Mediterranean. Turkey is one of the main exporters. Because of its poor resistance to freezes, laurel cannot be grown outdoors in more Northern regions.

Dried Bay Leaves are usually used in the culinary scene, as a taste adder if you left i in a pot of boiling water for 5 min then took it out, it would be releasing menthol and eucalyptus.
