1. Name and position in AJAC?
Sophia Wilson and I am the Head of English in the Secondary School
2. Where are you from?
I am from Brighton a lovely seaside town in England that is only 50 minutes by train from London.
3. Family?
I am one of 8 girls who are all professionally qualified. I am the only teacher among them though.
4. Childhood nickname?
Toffee because I ate loads of sweets and as a result had to have many fillings!
5. Favourite food?
At the moment Oman greens. I never heard of them before I came to the U.A.E and I cannot get enough of them. I eat them every day no matter what I am having for dinner!
6. Hobbies?
Running, movies and tapestry.
7. Favourite place in the UAE?
Strangely, exit E110 on the Sheikh Mohamid Bin Zayed Road as I usually get to see camels, who always uplift my mood with their big eyes and determined curiosity.
8. Most memorable experience as a teacher so far?
Taking a group of students on an adventure weekend where it rained non-stop and we got soaked and caked in mud every day! Amazingly, it was great fun.
9. Funniest moment in your teaching career?
Falling over on the stage when I was receiving an award at my old school. Well, it was funny for the audience!
10. The most challenging moment in your teaching career?
Taking on a behaviorally and academically challenging class and making them believe I could make a difference in their lives.
11. Childhood hero?
Nelson Mandela. His resilience, positivity and capacity for forgiveness are humbling.
12. If you weren't a teacher, what would you be?
Definitely a lawyer.
