CCA Husky Happenings
October 2018 Newsletter
Where will your degree take you?
We are excited about October 2018!
We will have opportunities to participate in Homecoming & Red Ribbon Week events enhancing our high school experience as well as College Fair & College Week to explore colleges and majors leading to our career goals.
There have also been challenging experiences to help us grow as learners. I love the quote on the juniors's AVID shirt, "Success: I never lose. either I win or I learn." We are learning how different professors are from each other in teaching styles and classroom activities. We are learning about our own learning styles, so we can develop strategies to help ourselves learn under conditions different from our favored style. We are learning that leadership is more than a position or title, we must do the extra work it takes to help others to follow.
We are celebrating Hispanic heritage of our learners and community. We have a team who will participate in the CISD Hispanic Heritage Bowl. Our Spanish classes have researched the people to help our team prepare for this competition. Good luck CCA HHB Team!
Thank you all for your willingness to learn something new and to own your learning,
Tralissa Griffin
Academic Dean of ECHS, Director of CCA
Grades
We know the first few weeks of any class often presents challenges for students and teachers to learn about each other. One of the challenges we have noted among our students is using intervention time appropriately for reading, studying, tutorials, and working in small groups. We changed our bell schedule this year to alleviate the long school days, however, we kept the daily study and tutorial time we know is important to our learners. We also provide several Friday afternoons for additional intervention support before beginning the weekend.
TCC dual credit classes are at mid-term. Your child can log into their MyTCC to show you their progress in each dual credit class.
TCC also offers Tutor 24/7 on many topics of common struggle. This live chat with a tutor is available through MyTCC Blackboard at any time. The topics include areas and subject matter from high school courses as well as college courses.
Please use tutorial resources often!
