Weathering the Storm
We have had an unusual couple of weeks with students, parents, discipline, etc. When you are confronted with such issues, I hope you can use the same process when a fierce hurricane is coming your way. No, it doesn't compare to casualties or property loss, but it does cause stress. It does cause angst and it can be taxing for you when you are here and carry it home.
Continue to seek out administration when you need help and let us help you weather your storms. I'm not sure we will have all the answers, but we do carry your worries with us and want to help. We are #allin this together. We are here to help in any way we can.
Have a great week!!!
It's Ribbon Week!
According to the National Breast Cancer Foundation, Inc.:

- Breast cancer is the most commonly diagnosed cancer in women.
- Breast cancer is the second leading cause of cancer death among women.
- Each year it is estimated that over 246,660 women in the United States will be diagnosed with breast cancer and more than 40,000 will die.
- Although breast cancer in men is rare, an estimated 2,600 men will be diagnosed with breast cancer and approximately 440 will die each year.
- On average, every 2 minutes a woman is diagnosed with breast cancer and 1 woman will die of breast cancer every 13 minutes.
- Over 2.8 million breast cancer survivors are alive in the United States today.
I hope you will spend some time explaining the purpose of the pink this week. Most students have or will have a relative that is fighting this disease or some other form of cancer. One cancer is not worse than the other if you have lived through it. It is scary, mean and relentless when it becomes aggressive. Many thoughts and prayers to all of you that have endured cancer. Thank you for making this a week of knowledge for our students.
For the picture: We will call each grade level to the gym as we did last year. I will give instructions. Eighth grade teachers can bring their items to the gym, but please know that you are to walk with your classes to the field. Encore teachers have been assigned other duties, (taking care of diabetics, injured, etc).
Next will be 7th called to the gym and finally 6th.
Please remember to go over expectations of the walk over and back. I will do this as well while I have them in the gym. This should take about an hour and back to class.
A Look at EVAAS
- 10 Exceeded Growth (All in Math and Science)
- 27 Met Growth
We would like to applaud all of you for the work that you are doing. I truly believe that the intentional unpacking of the standards and CFA assessments is paying off in your instruction. A couple of takeaways when you look at your data; are you in the positive? Can you look at the subgroups and see where you could grow even more? Coaches and facilitators will assist you in the weeks to come! Great job!
