A letter from Principal Karen Rommen
Dear Kitsap Lake Families,
As we wind down the school year, I find myself reflecting on all of the amazing experiences the staff at Kitsap Lake have provided for our children. Joy and laughter is something we see in every classroom along with engagement and learning. I am so honored to be an Eagle. That is why this news is so bittersweet for me.
It has been a wonderful experience and an honor to serve as your principal these past four years! All of you have given me the privilege of leading a school with the best students anyone could hope to have. Your children are magical and the entire staff at KLE recognize the trust you place in us every day to not only teach them academics, but also to guide them to be responsible and kind human beings. As the lead learner, I have been able to watch them grow in remarkable ways and I have grown as a result as well! Together we have navigated the many challenges that a pandemic presented and you have all been very supportive of our efforts to keep your children safe. We could not do our job as educators without all of you.
Changes can be really hard but often stretch us to become the best we can be in ways we may not have imagined before. So it is with mixed feelings that I share with all of you that I have been given another opportunity to serve the Bremerton School community beginning next school year. I will be shifting to a district position as a Special Programs Supervisor which will give me a new avenue to support kids. I am very excited to be able to continue to grow as a leader and look forward to providing K-12 district-level support for our highly capable programming. I will also be exploring the possibility of an incoming Transitional Kindergarten to the offerings Bremerton is able to provide our families. The district will be communicating with you soon regarding the upcoming interview process as they work to find a new principal for Kitsap Lake Elementary.
I want to thank the amazing staff at KLE for all that I have learned from them. Their dedication to their craft and their love for your children is visible every day. I am so proud of the work they do to ensure every student can be a successful learner and they have built relationships with your children that will endure for years. As a community of learners, the teachers collaborate to plan engaging activities that increase the progress that your children are able to achieve. The para educators work alongside them, support individual learning, and keep your kids safe at lunch and recess. Everyone - from the office staff, to the school nurse, to the custodian and kitchen staff - they all provide care and support and it truly feels like we’re one large family.
There are so many positive memories I will take with me as I embark on a new journey. So thank you from the bottom of my heart for the chance to have been part of this fulfilling experience. I look forward to the rest of this school year and all the continued learning and fun we have planned for your children. I love my Bremerton School District family and am so grateful for this new opportunity!
Sincerely,
Karen Rommen
