Student Information Form
Recently, an email was sent in regards to completing the Student Information Form. The information form, accessible through the parent portal, is used to collect items such as family information, emergency contact data, and medical permissions. It is crucial that you complete this form as soon as possible. Failure to submit this form will affect your student’s ability to attend field trips, participate in after-school activities, and receive medications from the school nurse. Student Information Form can be found in the left-hand column of your child's Parent Portal account.
Preparing for the Mile in PE
Students will begin preparing for the timed mile in PE next week!
The mile is part of the Fitnessgram test, a fitness assessment to help parents and students be aware of their fitness levels in all health related fitness components: cardiovascular endurance, muscular strength, muscular endurance, and flexibility. We can reflect on our results and see where we need to improve to be the healthiest individuals we can possibly be!
We will be practicing the mile by gradually increasing the distance we continually run in PE.
Though we never grade on physical performance, we do grade based off of effort. This means that there will be a cut off time for the mile, which is 16 minutes. 16 minutes is 100 meters per minute (the straightaway on the track), which can be accomplished by walking at a brisk pace.
Need for School Nurses
Tyngsborough Public Schools is currently hiring Per Diem Registered Nurses! If you enjoy caring for school aged children and are looking to earn some extra income, please contact Michelle Riley MSN RN, at Tyngsborough Middle School for more information. The daily rate is $165.00 for a full school day. Michelle can be reached at 978-649-3115 (option 2) or by email at michelle.riley@tyngsboroughps.org
LATE BUS
The TMS/THS Late Bus will begin on Tuesday, September 24, 2019, and will run every Tuesday and Thursday throughout the school year. The bus departs TMS at 4:00pm and will cost $1.00 to ride. Sign-ups and bus tickets will be sold and money will be collected during all lunch periods on that Late Bus Day. The Late Bus schedule and Late Bus routes have been posted under “Transportation/Bus Routes” on the TMS, THS and district websites.
Homework Club will start on September 24th as well. Students do not need to pay for Homework Club. Homework Club runs in conjunction with the Late Bus, and is held 2:00-4:00pm with a teacher/advisor.
PLEASE NOTE: The Late Bus route does not follow the regular pick-up and drop-off routes. The route will depend on ridership that particular day. The bus company will try to drop the students as close to their homes as possible.
CO-CURRICULAR
Here at TMS we offer various co-curricular after-school activities and clubs, with a $75.00 sign-up fee for certain clubs. Our offerings include Student Council and Robotics Club, and Knowledge Bowl with Mr. Pendergast. In-school announcements will be made for all students, and more information will be coming in future parent emails, so stay tuned!
