Pine Cove Meeting Next Week!
Our Pine Cove parent information meeting is this coming Tuesday the 24th from 6:00pm- 700pm. Please join us in the Cafe! Pick up your child's paperwork on a table with your child's homeroom teacher's name on it. We will answer all of your questions at the meeting and attendance is highly recommended. We can't wait to see you there!
If you signed up to possibly be a chaperone at Pine Cove, your volunteer background check must be submitted by October 1st to be considered. Volunteer background checks must be done each year. Here is the link:

Progress Reports
Progress reports went home today with your child. Grades can seem abnormally high or low on a progress report depending on how many grades we have in from your child. Things will level out by the end of the 9 weeks. Please let your child's teacher know if you have any questions. Two punches for all students who return the blue copy tomorrow with a parent signature! The white cope is yours to keep.

CogAT Testing
5th graders will be taking the Cognitive Abilities Test on the mornings of October 1st, 2nd, and 3rd. This is a standardized test that measures a student’s ability to think and solve verbal, quantitative, and nonverbal problems. Please do not schedule any out of school appointments for these days. Results from the testing will be reported to our campus and parents later this semester. You can help your child by making sure they get plenty of sleep the night before testing and that they eat a good breakfast in the morning.
RUN SMITH YARD SIGNS
Have your ordered your personalized Yard Sign for Race Day? These fun signs are printed with your child's name and will be displayed at school on the day of the race. You get to take them home after race day to show your support for Smith! Deadline to order is September 21st. Order NOW!

Max Brailler is coming for an Author Visit! This is the last chance to order the book The Last Kids on Earth. If students want an autographed copy, they need to return the purple order form in today's Thursday folder and exact payment by September 25, 2019. The author will be here next month!

Attendance Information
- Absent/Late: If your child is going to absent or arrive late due to an appointment, please email the teacher as well as Mrs. Hurwich at hurwichan@friscoisd.org as soon as possible
- Appointments: a doctor’s note is required for an appointment to be excused and must be submitted to the office within 3 days of the appointment
- A parent note/email or doctor note must be provided for an absence or it will remain unexcused
