Raider Family News

August, 2021

Greetings Students!!

We are so happy and grateful to be welcoming you back to Somerset Berkley Regional High School for the 2021-22 school year. To the Class of 2025, and any new transferring students--Welcome Aboard to our Raider Family! We are eager to get everyone back in our classrooms, on our athletic fields, and playing music in our hallways! We look forward to concerts, semi-formals, and events that can bring us all together as a school community. I urge you, even if you never have before, to get involved in all SBRHS has to offer. I also strongly encourage you to check your email for updates as the administration, teachers and staff utilize this on a regular basis for disseminating information out to our student body and their families. Please take the time to read through this newsletter as it contains some very important information about our upcoming year. We are still preparing, so please stay tuned for more information as it becomes available.

On behalf of the faculty and staff, we are dedicated to helping our students achieve their goals and, perhaps, even create new goals that they didn't even know they had! We are here for you to achieve in your academics, but also care about you as individuals and people. If you need any assistance or guidance, please reach out to your teachers, counselors, or administrators--we are all here to help! Work hard and dream big! As some of you are already realizing, these four years go by very fast--make the most of them! We look forward to seeing you soon.

2021-2022 School Schedule

Based on feedback from students and staff, as well as the need for 4 lunch periods to accommodate students comfortably in the cafeteria, we will be using a modified version of the 2019-2020 school schedule. The schedule runs on a Monday through Friday basis. This means that the classes that fall on a Monday will always be on Monday, Tuesday on Tuesday, etc.

Student Drop Off/Pick Up

Parents are highly encouraged to enter onto campus from the County Street/ Grandview Avenue entrance or from Clifford Holland (refer to image below).

The southbound lane (closest to the building) of Blue Raider Boulevard will be closed south of the traffic circle to all traffic entering the campus from Luther Avenue for drop off and pick up. The only exception will be special education vans will be allowed access past the traffic circle.

Any vehicle entering the campus from Luther Avenue will have to drop their student at the main entrance, turn around in the traffic circle and exit back out to Luther Avenue. It is also highly recommended when exiting onto Luther Avenue you turn right (East) toward County Street to keep traffic flowing.

When picking up your child in the afternoon it is also encouraged for you to enter onto campus using the County Street/Grandview Avenue or Clifford Holland entrance and stage in the northbound travel lane of Blue Raider Boulevard for your child to exit the building.

Luther Avenue has no parking or standing signs and this will be enforced by the Somerset Police Department.

Please see the diagram below regarding the traffic pattern. If there are any questions regarding the route update please contact SRO Vicente-Roberts at

Student Parking

Seniors may buy parking passes up until September 2, 2021. Seniors may come to the main office from 8-2:30 M-F (before August 30) or before or after school hours once school begins. The cost of the pass is $50.00. Checks can be made payable to SBRHS.

The main office will then determine how many parking spaces are left. After September 2, 2021, juniors interested in obtaining a parking pass may submit parking paperwork (NO MONEY) to Ms. Smith. (She will be sending an email prior to 9/2/21 to remind them of this information). The paperwork is due by September 6, 2021 at 2:30 p.m. These names will all be submitted into a lottery which will be held on September 7 at 2:15 p.m.

School Supplies

At the high school level, charged Chromebooks and checking email are the essential school supplies for day one! The first week of school, teachers will disseminate syllabi which will detail individual classroom expectations in terms of supplies. Most classes require some type of binder/folder/notebook and, of course, writing utensils. Again, more information will be forthcoming by teachers during the first week of school.

Free Tutoring--Come to Academic Support

For any students who may need extra help in their coursework, we offer FREE academic tutoring after school in our library. It is called Academic Support and runs from 2:15-3:45 p.m. Monday-Thursday. Students do not need to sign up nor stay the entire time. This is a place to come for extra help, review before an assessment or simply to get homework completed. Attendance is taken for tracking purposes. There is also a late bus that leaves from the school at 3:45 p.m. and brings students to the Berkley Commons for Berkley students or to their street in Somerset.

Academic Support is offered in the following subjects and will begin the week of September 13th:

Mondays: Science with Ms. Tinkham (

Tuesdays: Math with Mrs. Rebello and Mrs. Eldridge ( or

Wednesdays: Social Studies with Mr. Dionne (

Thursdays: ELA with Mr. Fallon (
