Dr. Seuss Day

We had SO much fun going around to all the Pre-K - 1st grade rooms last week celebrating Dr. Seuss. We made Ooblek, marble paintings, One Fish Soup, Green Eggs and Ham, and took funny pictures in our classroom. A special thanks to Olivier's Mom, Sohum's Mom, and Joshua's parents for volunteering to run our Cat in the Hat classroom.

Brain Awareness Month

March is Brain Awareness Month! On Thursday, March 12th, first and second grade students attended a presentation about our brains and the five senses given by a Med student. Arielle Valdez is currently studying to obtain her MD/PhD at Emory School of Medicine. She was INCREDIBLE. The students were in awe as she showed them how the brain's cortex works as a train station for all of our senses. We did an experiment with Peppermint candies and learned how if we eat one with our noses plugged we can no longer taste the peppermint! Students also did an experiment to discover how our brain registers touch. Then, at the end of the presentation, every child was able to touch a REAL brain. Our children are so lucky to have been a part of such an incredible program. Thanks Arielle!
