Science is a way of learning about the natural world and knowledge gained through the process.

Observing, Inferring, Predicting
- Observing is using your senses to gather information.
- Inferring is making an educated guess based on observation.
- Predicting is making a forecast of what will happen in the future based on past evidence.
Science Inquiry
A science inquiry is asking questions about what you observe.

Scientific inquiry refers to the many ways in which scientists study the natural world and propose explanations based on the evidence they gather.
Energy
Energy is the ability to do work or cause change.

The Earth system has 4 main parts: atmosphere, hydrosphere, lithosphere, and biosphere.
Matter
Matter makes up EVERYTHING in the universe.

Energy can be transferred from place to place by moving objects, waves, or heat flow.
