From the Desk of Dr. Rodriguez
A student's success during the middle and high school years depends largely on the type of preparation that student receives in elementary school. Organizational and time management, academic independence, and knowledge of different study techniques are just a few of the skills students need to really grasp the academic content taught at the secondary level. Thankfully, our fifth graders are more than prepared to meet the challenges of middle school life at the Prep School. Armed with a skill set designed to ease the nerves of moving to a different campus, students begin their Prep School experience with the understanding that they are ready for anything that may come their way. The excitement of beginning this new chapter in their lives was palpable this week as fifth graders participated in a webinar, hosted by the Prep School counselors, to choose their courses for next year. Will they take classes in the fine arts or P.E.? Will they want to master a language other than Spanish? Are some of the many Advanced Placement classes offered at the Prep School in their future? Only time will tell, but we know -- without a shadow of a doubt -- that no matter what classes our students choose to take during the next seven years of their education, they will be successful because of the preparation they received here. Thank you, teachers, for giving our students the tools they need to reach their maximum potential during the next phase of their education and beyond.
Have a wonderful weekend, and make sure to check your inbox in exactly one week for our next edition of Friday at 4:00!
Sincerely,
Dr. Rodriguez

All Things Dinosaur!
Our 4-year-olds had a BLAST this week learning about all things dinosaur. From watching their very own dinosaur eggs hatch to becoming amateur archaeologists digging for fossils, students discovered what life was like millions of years ago for these now-extinct (thankfully) reptiles. Some flew overhead, some lurked beneath the surface of our oceans, and some dined on the leaves of the tallest trees on land. Did they hunt in herds, or were they solitary creatures? Whether large or small, herbivore or carnivore, they all have one thing in common -- they are a FAVORITE topic of discussion for our students! Thank you to Ms. Alfonso and Ms. Hughes for giving our students a lesson they'll never forget!
