Harvest Festival
Another great year for the Harvest Festival is in the books! Greenlee Primary would like to personally thank those who provided time, services, items, and donations. Without community and family support, this event would not flourish. Money raised is truly a generous gift to our school!
WNC Nature Center
Greenlee kindergarten classes traveled to the WNC Nature Center. Students learned about many animals and reptiles from the Southern Appalachian Mountain region as they observed them in their natural habitats. Students also saw many plants that are native to the region. Many students participated in interactive guided programs that provided detailed information on some of the animals.
Spiders.... Spiders.... Spiders....
Mrs. Austin's class learned interesting facts about spiders, different types of webs they make, and compared them to insects. Spiders were also incorporated into language arts and math. The unit ended with spider necklaces and decorating spider cookies!
Fire Safety Month
First graders had visitors from the fire department come to classrooms and speak about fire prevention and fire safety. Students learned about the tools that are used when fighting fires, read stories on fire safety, and concluded with a trip to the Parkway Fire and Rescue Fire Department.
