Gator Bites
CGE Weekly Newsletter- October 31, 2021
Welcome
Welcome to our weekly Gator Bites newsletter! Every Sunday evening our team at CGE will send out any important updates for the following week. Our goal is to be prepared, transparent and informative! We appreciate your time and urge you to read through carefully each week- especially during these unconventional virtual learning weeks.
Stay safe, stay informed and stay Gator Strong! š
From the Principal's Desk
As a reminder, our 5 bus routes are re-starting on Monday. We have worked hard to prepare everyone for the change, but please do anticipate some ābumpinessā as we re-implement the additional routes. We will have 3 drivers who are new to our school and community, and teachers are going to have to make adjustments as well.
I'm also writing to let you know that Mr. Mitch Stensland will be supporting CGE in the coming weeks as an interim assistant principal. Mr. Stensland has 30 years of education experience serving as a classroom teacher, assistant principal, principal, and personnel director. When you get the chance, please give Mr. Stensland a "Gator Welcome" to our school! We have begun the search for a new assistant principal and we will share additional information when we have it.

Fall Picture Day
We will have our Fall Picture Day next Thursday, November 4th during school hours!
Order packets with online instructions will be sent home with students next week. Online orders are preferred. If you'd like to send in a check with your paper packet, your student will hand the order directly to the photographer, so please do not send in any money until Thursday! You will be able to order online after proofs are in via Strawbridge's online process. Shipping fees will apply.
We will be following the same protocol as our Spring photo day. Students will sit, briefly unmask, snap a few pictures, then mask up before they even stand up. Strawbridge Studios along with Chatham Grove is committed to the safety of our students at all times!

CCS is offering free, weekly COVID-19 testing for students who have parental permission to participate. Families have to opt in to be part of this program. The testing will take place at your childās school. We will begin the testing Oct. 25 for our elementary students, Nov. 1 for grades sixth through eighth and Nov. 8 for our high school students.
Please visit our website, www.chatham.k12.nc.us, and click on the Coronavirus Info button at the top of the homepage for more details about this grant-funded program and to enroll your child up.
CCS is committed to protecting the health and safety of our staff and students. The testing program is one more strategy we can use to reduce the spread of the virus, prevent outbreaks and protect all members of our CCS family. Our goal is to keep our students in school, maintain athletics and continue school activities. This is an important tool in furthering our progress in doing so.
