Pierremont Paw Print
April 1, 2021
Note from Gina
We had a great return from Spring Break! The staff and students were excited and eager to work. As you might remember, the district no longer holds formal spring parent-teacher conferences. However, our teachers will provide updates before the end of the school year.
As we move into the fourth quarter, we prepare for MAP testing in grades 3-5 and create strong plans for the next school year. While we can not hold our typical end-of-year events and activities, we look forward to celebrating with the kids in different ways.
During April, I plan to meet with the students during lunchtime to seek feedback for future planning. We don't know what school will look like next year, but we can use what we learned this year to spark ideas, make adjustments, and create great plans.
Again, thanks for all you do and for your unwavering support. We are Panthers!!

INFORMATION FOR VIRTUAL CAMPUS
Parent Pointers: Mindframes For Students
Students’ mindframe is their ability to control and direct their behavior, emotions, and thoughts. It is important that students are able to do this while working towards long term goals. These are habits that need to be supported and practiced.
The authors of The Distance Learning Playbook for Parents organized the learning sciences into six statements.
Know their current level of understanding. Students are aware of their performance and understand that their current level of understanding can change.
Know where they’re going and are confident to take on the challenge. Students understand that there is more to learn and they are willing to take risks to get there.
Select tools to guide their learning. Students understand the ways learning tools work and they use them as needed.
Seek feedback and recognize that errors are opportunities to learn. Students seek out feedback. They also learn from mistakes.
Monitor their progress and adjust their learning. Students recognize that their learning is a marathon and not a spring.
Recognize their learning and teach others. Student know when they learn something new and are willing to share that information with others.
It is imperative that students learning virtually develop and practice mindframe skills. Situations where you can support students’ growth mindset:
When your child does not know an answer
When your child makes and error
When your child experiences failure
When your child is anxious
Helpful Hints:
Do not tell your child that you were bad at math, writing, art, or anything they are trying to learn. Students need to have the foundation that they can learn anything and are not predisposed to struggle with a subject.
Focus more on the process rather than the final product or grade. What are the next steps of learning?

Pierremont SCRIPS Gift Card Program
What is it?
Scrips are gift cards. When Pierremont families purchase gift cards, we are purchasing
shopping cards which are the same as cash. The shopping cards look just like gift cards or gift certificates we would purchase at stores. The cards are issued by a national retailer. When we shop using gift cards, we raise funds for Pierremont simply by shopping for our family’s groceries, everyday needs, special events, and gifts. Cards can buy the gift or be the gift!
Sounds great, but how does Pierremont make money?
The merchants offer gift cards for sale to non-profit organizations at a discount. If you
purchase one gift card at $25.00, you will receive a $25.00 gift card for shopping. The PTO buys the cards at discounted rates and keeps the difference as profit.
How do I buy them?
1. Complete the Scrips Family Order form and return it to the front office (backpack mail) with
