Something you may not know about Karen Szatalowicz:
Education runs deep in my family. My dad was a large animal veterinarian in Stanley, Wisconsin, where I was born and raised. He was one of the pioneers responsible for getting the school of veterinary medicine established at the University of Wisconsin. Believe it or not, back in the day, the veterinarian profession in Wisconsin was sharply divided on the issue of establishing a vet school. My dad fought for this, to the extent of testifying before a Senate committee. The University of Wisconsin School of Veterinary Medicine dedicated its 13th Annual Graduate Conference to him in 1997. He was very active in may aspects veterinary medicine at state and national levels, including vice president of the American Veterinary Medical Association (AVMA) and president of the executive board of the AVMA.

A Very Heartwarming Story From a Real Classroom:
A 4th-grader explains to class what having autism is like. The teacher was stunned by their reaction.
When 4th grader Rumari asked his teacher if he could address the class, she had no idea what was about to occur.
