Greetings Munn Families,
I hope you and your family are enjoying the anticipation of the holiday season. There are countless ways to welcome in the holiday season. There is no better way to get into the spirit of the holidays than to attend the Munn School Parent Association’s Snow Munn celebration on December 8 at 6:30 pm in the Munn School cafeteria. There will be crafts, cookies, and a visit from Santa. The holiday shop will also be open for business. I hope to see you there!
Student progress:
As we transition to the next tri-mester, I want to thank our students, parents, guardians, and Munn staff for their commitment to teaching and learning and recognize the academic and social growth of our students. The collaboration, communication and partnership between home and school is a major reason why students have been successful. Please be reminded to review and acknowledge report cards by accessing the information below. I have shared the previous information about report cards below for your convenience. If you have any specific questions about your child’s progress, please reach out to the teacher.
Make sure you know how to log into your child’s Infinite Campus backpack, which is found within the Infinite Campus parent portal, accessible at this link: https://ic.spencerportschools.org/campus/portal/parents/spencerport.jsp If you have any questions about your Infinite Campus account, please contact Mr. Charles Ocasio 349-5152.
· Please remember to both view and acknowledge therein and if you have any questions about your child’s progress, never hesitate to contact his/her teacher(s) accordingly.
· The standards-based report card, distributed three times a year, is one part of the system used in Spencerport to report academic progress to families. The report cards are aligned to the New York State Next Generation Standards and list the essential skills students should learn in each subject at a particular grade level. It is important to note that the standards are end-of-grade expectations. For the first two report cards, students are evaluated on their progress toward the end of year grade level standards. On the final report card in June, the score reflects their actual achievement in relation to the standards. The goal is for students to achieve 3s in June, indicating that the student has met grade level standards at the conclusion of the school year.

December 8 Half-Day Reminder: One week from today, Friday, December 8 marks our district’s first half-day of the year and a reminder that this half-day is for all pre-k – 12 students.
Students in grades K – 5: While breakfast will remain available as normal, students will not be served lunch and they will not have specials on this day. With respect to dismissal, those who are being picked up will be called down to the cafeteria beginning at 11:40 am, and those taking the bus will be dismissed shortly after with buses rolling away from the building and on their way home at 12:00 pm. If you are planning on picking up your child on this half-day, please send in a note ahead of time so that we can prepare for the busiest dismissal of the year, and we will open our doors to have you sign your child out at 11:30 am. As is our normal daily practice, no bus passes will be issued, so unless we have a pick up note, your child will take his/her normal bus home. Thanks in advance for your support with this half-day schedule and tune into teacher updates to hear more about what our focus on STEAM will look like next Friday for your child(ren)!
Students in our pre-k classrooms will follow their regular dismissal routine, where designated pick-up persons can arrive at exit 20 (same doorway as always) around 11:15 for dismissal at 11:20.
