A Message from Mr. H.
I hope everyone enjoyed their Thanksgiving with family and friends. I want to extend a special thanks to the Moreau Hall faculty and staff for putting in so much work to prepare for report cards and conferences next week. We have a truly dedicated and hardworking group of educators here at MH!
A big thank you to parents and school members for participating in the FEEE Volleyball Tournament on behalf of Moreau Hall and Easton Public Schools. We may not have won the championship, but we had a ton of fun raising money for our schools!
Thank you for your continued support for our students and our school. I wish you a happy and healthy holiday season, and best wishes for a prosperous new year!
Mr. Higgins
Veterans Day at Moreau Hall
Hawk of the Month - Positive Attitude
We celebrated our October Hawks of the Month on Wednesday, November 29th. These students were selected because of their positive attitudes. We are so proud of the bucket filling attitude they possess each and every day. They come to school excited and energized about learning and they stay motivated, even when things don’t go well. Our October recipients include Nicole, Talia, Olivia, Sloane, Jason, Alex, Heydon, Hailey, Teagan, JJ, Bodhi, Max, and Addy. Our Hawks and their guests were treated to a breakfast celebration ceremony thanks to our friend Mike Asack at North Easton Savings Bank.
Hour of Code is coming!
We are excited to announce our third annual participation in an Hour of Code. According to Hour of Code’s website, hourofcode.com, this event is a one-hour introduction to computer science, designed to demystify code and show that anybody can learn the basics. In celebration of Computer Science Education Week, Moreau Hall students in grades K-2 will participate in self-guided activities that incorporate some of their favorite topics to teach the basics of coding. It is sure to be an exciting event for our students and teachers. Any member of our school community is invited to participate and/or volunteer. This is a global movement reaching tens of millions of students in over 180 countries. Check out the stats at code.org!

Community Service at Moreau Hall - Grade 2
Our Moreau Hall Hawks are involved in helping their community on a regular basis. Each grade level has a positive relationship with a local charity and they work hard to have a lasting impact on their community. We are proud of the work they have done, and will continue to do, to help those in need of our help! A big thank you must go to Mrs. Sullivan for coordinating our community service efforts!
One of our student's fathers is currently deployed in Afghanistan. Our second graders would like to send some packages to him and other soldiers. For one week, we will be collecting items to send to the soldiers. Suggestions of items would be: blankets, baby wipes, toothpaste, toothbrushes, q-tips, soap, hand sanitizer, razors, shaving cream, games, decks of cards, sports balls, cans of spam, tuna pouches, candy, packages of cookies, chips, cheez-its and any other goodies that will survive mailing.
You can also send in a donation to help with postage as well.
We will be collecting items from December 4th - December 8th, so we can get the packages sent out for the holidays.
Thank you to second grade students and their families for supporting our troops!

ICARE
Dear Parent(s) / Guardian(s),
We are currently having our first of two iCARE readings. For adults who wish to volunteer but who cannot come in regularly, it is a meaningful opportunity. We will have a second reading in the winter or spring so there is still time to get trained and volunteer. If you have any time this week and you have a CORI form that is up to date, I may be able to have you go with a trained volunteer to see iCARE in action.
I was very fortunate to have been both a volunteer and parent when my own children were younger, and I thought the program had a positive effect on their view of the world. Finally, if you are interested in being a parent leader for this program, we will train you in the winter so that you can take it over next year. Mrs. Kashgagian, our current parent leader will be moving on to R/O next year. We need a parent who has a child in grades K or 1. Please do not hesitate to contact me if you have any questions.
Thank you for your support.
Sincerely,
Ms. Moskowitz

Mrs. Silverstein's Reading Corner
As conferences quickly approach, many parents will have heard from their child’s teacher talk of the importance of sight words or “the Dolch words”. The Dolch Word List is a list of commonly used English words that was first compiled by Edward William Dolch. Edward Dolch compiled this list based on children's books, and selected 220 "service words" which children need to recognize and read with automaticity, in order to achieve reading fluency. Dolch excluded nouns from his main list, but did compile a separate 95-word list of nouns. Many of the 220 words in the Dolch list, cannot be "sounded out", and must be learned by sight.
In Kindergarten, the end of the year goal is for the children to be able to read many of the 30 words presented to them over the year. In First Grade, there is a big shift and the students are responsible to read 179/220. In Second Grade, the children are responsible for the remainder of the 220 and the additional 95 nouns.
Please visit the website www.dolchsightwords.org for flashcards, games and a variety of activities to play with your child. If you have access to the App Store there are many free games to put on your phones and devices as well. Here are some great ones:

Mr. Dennison’s Music Notes
November music classes focused on patriotic songs for the the annual Veterans day assembly. The students sang loud and proud for veterans from our Moreau Hall community! It is an honor to study and discuss the meaning of these songs with the students. In December, all students participate in the school-wide Holiday Sing. They “sing along” together with songs from upcoming holidays and winter season. Each grade also prepares a grade level song. I look forward to working on this with all grades this month.

Easton Public Schools Activity Fee
Each year we ask families to pay an activity fee, which goes to support various activities in town. For Moreau Hall, the biggest activity that is supported through this fee is our connection to Sheep Pasture. In addition to our students going to Sheep Pasture in the spring, the teachers from this great program visit Moreau Hall during the winter to work with each classroom. It is a fantastic learning experience for our students.
The Kindergarten fee for this year is included in K Tuition. The activity fee for grades 1 & 2 students is $40. Please click the link below to pay the fee by October 6th.Core Values
