The Youth Services Centers and College and Career Ready Centers at CHS and SCHS, and other community organizations are offering wonderful summer activities for high school and middle school students. Don’t let your child miss out on opportunities to learn, have fun, and stay engaged this summer.
College Day- Visit a campus, start plannning your future
Toyota Manufacturing Center
June 9th from 8:00am until 3:00pm. This is a free one day field trip is open to all incoming 9th through 12th graders. We will be touring the Toyota Manufacturing Center in Georgetown. Lunch at Golden Corral Buffet is provided at no charge to the participants. Space is limited, so sign up early. Email Mrs. Stivers if you would like to attend.
Career Craze Camp at JCTC Shelby Campus
June 9th through 12th from 9:00am to 1:00pm. This is a free 4 day hands on career exploration camp for any student ages 12 years old to 15 years old interested in the healthcare, science, engineering, or information technology field. Space is limited, so sign up early. Email Mrs. Stivers if you have any questions, or would like to sign up for this program.

Student Volunteer Opportunity at the VA Medical Center
The 2015 VA Student Volunteer Program will officially begin on June 8, 2015 and run through August 7, 2015 . Interested students ages 14 to 17 years should contact Voluntary Service no later than May 8, 2015, to reserve a place in the program and schedule an orientation. If your child is interested in volunteering contact Mary Stewart for more details at mary.stewart@va.gov.
Summer Camp Opportunity for Horse Lovers:
The Freedom Riding Center on Zaring Mill Road in Shelbyville is offering two Summer Camp sessions, June 22nd-26th and July 13th-17th. The camps run from 8:00am to 5:00pm each day, snacks, drinks and lunch daily are included. There are only 10 spots per available per session. Campers will participants in riding, ground work, horse care, games, swimming, and more. The camp is $350.00 per child per week. Call 502-655-1970 for more information.
Does your Titan Need Volunteer Hours ?
The Freedom Riding Center listed above is hosting summer riding camps and needs 10 volunteers per session to help with the camp. The dates for the camps are June 22nd-26th and July 13th-17th. Volunteers must commit to working the full week from 8:00am-5:30pm daily. All food and drinks are provided, NO Horse experience is necessary. To sign up call 502-655-1970 or visit their website
Project Build (Businesses United In Leadership Development) -
Offered by the Lincoln Foundation will be held June 8th - July 3rd in partnership with the University of Louisville College of Business. Participants who are incoming 11th and 12th graders interested in business, economics, marketing and management should consider this mini-MBA program. For more information go to www.lincolnfdn.org
University of Louisville Math and Science Camp –
For middle and high school students will be June 8th – 26th, participants will be conducting scientific investigations and designing projects around water quality, biodiversity, and energy.
