What Kind of Technology Have You Tried Lately?
Monday Tech Tip!
The Technology Committee is introducing monthly tech tips in the Pirate Press. Check them out to become more tech savvy! We plan on featuring helpful apps, tech tips, and more to make your lives easier.
For October, we have included Google Classroom tutorial videos. If you are new to Google Classroom, watch the first two videos to help you setup your Google Classroom and to show students the basics. If you have been using Google Classroom for a while, look at what is new for 2017 by watching the 3rd video.
Announcements!
STAFF ONLY:
- Career Day: We are so excited for Career Day on Nov 1! Please remember this is an ALL ADVISORY/no enrich/intervention afternoon for all grades. 6th and 7th will be provided directions and rotation schedule directly. 8th will stay in their classes.
- Action Team Info: Thank you for your participation in action teams! We can't do it without you! An initial certificate will go out to students on Wed 10/25 letting them know which action team they are on and when their first meeting is. Please make sure the doc is filled in! You may add students to your team as you go if there are others who want to join - if this is the case please add them to the doc so we can track who they are.
- Wednesday Tutoring: Will resume 11/1 after school in the NP3 library.
- 6th SOM: The next one is 10/27!
- Leader In Me Reminders: 1. Teacher personal mission statement, at least one student WIG and leadership notebook set up due by end of Q1, If any of these haven't been completed they need to ASAP as additional leadership notebook components will be added for Q2. 2. Classroom mission and student mission statement are due by next Tuesday.
- Instructional Rounds: Rounds take place this week and next Tuesday! Please be mindful of subs on campus.
- PD: PD this week is literacy and numeracy. Bring necessary docs according to your progress and SMART goal.
- Picture Make-Ups: 10/25 please ask your first period class if there is anyone who needs to take their school picture and send them to the Gym.
ADVISORIES, STUDENTS & FAMILIES:
- K-9 Open Enrollment: NP3 will be accepting applications for the 18-19 school year 10/16-11/17. K-12 applications are available in the front office and on our website.
- Booster Meeting: Mon 10/23 6:30 pm in the NP3 Library. Snacks are provided!
- Bus departure update: Beginning after the fall break there will not be a 4:15 late bus on Mondays and Fridays.
- Bus Pass Update: From here on out all students MUST have their buss pass in order to ride the bus. This is for safety purposes. All NP3 students are eligible to ride the bus for free but must have the completed the application process to receive their pass. Please see the transportation page on the NP3 Middle website for more information.
- Pizza Sale: Student Government will be selling pizza after school to raise money on 10/26. Pizza slices will be sold for $1 each.
- Make-up Picture Day: All students and staff who missed or need to re-do their school picture can do so on 10/25.
- NP3 Elementary Dig Day: NP3E would like to invite anyone who is interested to attend their Dig Day. Join them in making their garden dreams a reality! They will be preparing their new gardens, in partnership with Healthy Planet, this Saturday, October 28th from 9 AM - 12:30 PM. Morning snacks, water and coffee will be provided, courtesy of P3. Please see attached flyer for more information and the link to RSVP!
- 8th Grade Save the Date: NP3 HS is hosting a parent night for all 8th grade families on 11/2 6pm! Learn all about NP3 HS, data & accomplishments, academic expectations, etc. Please see attached flyer.
- Give the Gift of Warmth!: 7th grader Akshaj Mehta and 1st grader Atiksh Mehta are leading a winter drive for families in need from 10/16-11/17. New/gently used items being collected are as follows: coats, socks, gloves, and sleeping bags. Items may be dropped off to a box in the front office and will be distributed on Thanksgiving.
- Halloween: On 10/31 students are allowed to wear costumes to school, however we must be able to tell who your student is. Costumes cannot include any weapons or masks. If your student is not in a costume, they must be in dress code. If any part of a costume interrupts student learning, they will be asked to change accordingly.
- Halloween Lunch Rally: Student Government will be hosting a rally on 10/31 in the quad at lunch. They will be sharing information about upcoming events.
- Movie Night: NP3 MS will be hosting a movie night on Fri 11/3 from 3:30-5:30pm in the GYM. The movie "Rise of the Guardians" will be played. There is a $4 entrance fee and pizza, nachos, cotton candy and drinks will be sold for $1 each. This event is open to students and families from NP3 MS and NP3 E. Students can bring blankets, pillows, etc.
- Outdoor Club Field-trip: On 11/4 Outdoor Club will be hiking to Clementine Dam. This is a easy/moderate hike and is about 4.5 miles round-trip. If you would like to participate or join Outdoor Club please see Ms. Marinkovich for details. This is a great way to encourage a love of the outdoors through physical activity and to have fun.
Box Tops: Boosters is holding an advisory box top collection competition. The winning advisory will get a pizza party. Please turn in your Box Tops to your student's advisory teacher. The competition will end 10/28.
Free Dress Days: As part of our celebration for meeting our fundraising goal, we get free dress days this Thur and Fri! Congratulations! Details and expectations on free dress days: students CAN wear jerseys, athletic attire, sweats, graphic tees etc. or any clothing specified in the dress code. Students CANNOT wear excessively ripped jeans (jeans with holes in the knees are okay), clothing that promotes violence, drugs or alcohol, revealing clothing (i.e. no showing midriffs), including tank tops.
