From Cuz's Desk
From the Help Desk:
Hey folks!
Friendly neighborhood Help Desk again, checking in with you about a few very important things.
First, the reminder that will likely come every month: Tickets! I love tickets. They are what lets me know what needs to be done and when. Without a ticket, either I can’t do anything, or will have you create a ticket before I do. It also lets me know who, what, where, why, etc. Include every possible piece of info that you can. If you’re submitting for a student (please have them submit their own if at all possible) please include full name and student number in the ticket, as well as the machine number (there’s a specific spot for that one). I can answer whatever question you’d like in person or via email, but if it’s something I need to do? I need a ticket. Every time. Thanks for helping keep the system running smoothly!
Secondly, have you tried turning it off and on again? If the answer is no, then that’s step one BEFORE submitting the ticket. I am very happy to help with any tech issues that may arise (after all, it’s what I’m here for!), but my first question pretty much every time will be “have you tried turning it off and on again?”
Trust me, it solves a lot more issues than you’d think it would. Probably 50% of the tickets I’ve resolved have been through a simple restart. Even password issues, because then you can determine if the person who needs help has their password correct at all! If not, a password reset is a simple ticket away!
This is your Friendly Neighborhood Help Desk, signing off!
