Eagle Crest Family Newsletter

Principal's Message
Hello Eagle Crest Families!
As we cruise into the 2nd trimester of the school year it is fun to see our students applying their learning to so many extended curriculum activities. This week alone I have been amazed with our budding engineers and architects in the STEM Garage, future cartographers and world explorers checking out the GIANT world map in the Library, as well as the artistic and creative superstars sharing their creativity in both Art and Music classes. We always strive to make our learning experiences relevant and let student discovery guide our path!
Our leadership focus reminds us that we are nurturing the engaged citizens of the future. Tomorrow, on Veterans Day, our students will be writing letters and creating cards to share with and honor Veterans in our community. In this season of gratitude we are proud to share our appreciation for their service.
I hope that you have a wonderful weekend!
Warmly,
Amanda

School Volunteer Training - TONIGHT
We are excited to welcome volunteers back into our building this year. Family volunteers are part of the rich tradition in our community focused school, and we are eager to have volunteers back in a safe and supportive way.
Our whole staff has been engaged in discussions about how to involve families in meaningful ways that support student learning and help to lighten the load for teachers. This year, we will be offering volunteer training. This training will be required for adults who would like to volunteer in our classrooms. It will be an opportunity for us to review safety protocols, confidentiality expectations, and some of the routines and procedures in place to help everything run smoothly. We have one more date (TONIGHT) scheduled for this Fall, and we will have some additional dates available in the Spring.
November 10th - 6:00 pm - Webex Link Password: Jpd57sWjBe9
Classroom teachers will begin reaching out with their volunteer needs through their regular newsletters. When we have opportunities to help in the library, Specials classes, or other areas of the school we will share those opportunities in this weekly newsletter.
PTO Update
Dear Eagle Crest Families,
Dine out or carry out at Culver's TODAY from 5-8 PM. 10% of all proceeds go to ECES to fund field trips and awesome programs like Square State Skate!
We treated staff to a Palo Coffee bar last week during Late Start using funds from our September staff appreciation fundraiser. It was well received by staff during a busy post-Halloween week.
If you missed the November PTO meeting, the minutes can be found here. We will not have a December meeting. On January 24th at 8 PM, we are hosting a virtual Family Tech Talk with an internet safety expert from Trend Micro.
Take care,
Jenn Pensy, PTO president

Lost & Found
As we know, elementary aged students are still learning to keep track of their personal items. We have a Lost and Found at Eagle Crest and we want to help you reunite with items that may have gone missing. Clothing items, water bottles, lunch boxes and larger items are placed on a cart outside the Cafeteria. Smaller and more valuable items (glasses, phones, and keys) are stored in the Main Office. Every couple of weeks we will roll out the cart and notify you via this newsletter when and where it will be.
So far this year we have collected LOTS of water bottles, warm jackets, and sweatshirts. The Lost and Found Cart will be available behind the school, on our basketball court, tomorrow (Friday) before and after school. Please stop by to check if anything belongs to you.
NEW - Digital Lost & Found
As always, you can stop by to check the Lost and Found any day before our Front Office closes at 4pm.

Mwebaza Update - Spirit Day on 11/18
Next Friday, November 18th, is PJ and Stuffy Day!
This is a fundraiser for our sister school in Uganda.
The Mwebaza Annex Club is inviting all students to wear their PJ’s to school and bring a stuffy that can fit in their backpacks. Students should also wear regular shoes so they can participate in recess and all activities. All funds raised will go to a new library project that we plan to start in 2023 at Mwebaza Annex School. Eagle Crest students can donate as much or as little as they want to. All students can participate with or without a donation. Classroom teaches will collect the donations that day.
Thank you for your support of our partnership with Mwebaza Annex School!
Job Opportunity - New Campus Supervisor Position
The safety of our school environments has always been a top priority in St. Vrain Valley Schools. As the district continues to invest in security upgrades, mental health resources, counselors, and other supports to ensure the well-being and success of our students, we are excited to share that a new Campus Supervisor position will be provided to all elementary schools in the district.
Currently at all middle and high schools in St. Vrain, Campus Supervisors promote safe and secure learning environments for students by providing an additional layer of facility monitoring, oversight, and communication regarding any potential risks or safety concerns. These roles also play an important part in fostering a positive building environment by building relationships with students and serving as another trusted adult in the building.
If you or someone you know is interested in applying for one of these 26 new positions, a job description and application can be accessed starting Monday, October 31 at https://www.applitrack.com/stvrain/onlineapp/default.aspx?Category=Security.
Job Opportunity - Guest Teacher
A Guest, or Substitute Teacher, teaches and supervises students in the event that their regular teacher is unable to lead class. Our Guest Teachers enjoy working within a positive culture among a group of passionate and caring professionals who are all working to support student success. If you are interested in joining one of the most highly effective and supportive teams of professionals in the country, please apply using the link below and look for the "Substitute Teaching" vacancy to start your application.
Lunch Menu & Color Day Schedule
See below for the November Lunch & Specials schedule!
Our Music, PE, and Art classes are on a 3 day rotation. Every school day is either a Red, Gold, or Purple day. These colors are shared on our school lunch menu to help families plan ahead for necessary supplies like sneakers for PE.
Add Money to your Child’s School Breakfast & Lunch Account
MySchoolBucks is the website you want to access in order to add funds to your child’s account for purchasing breakfast, lunch, or milk at school. This system will send you reminders and can manage the account of multiple students. Money can also be sent to school by check or cash. Please label any checks or cash with the students first name, last name, and teacher.
If you haven’t yet, you can apply for Free & Reduced meals to see if your family qualifies for free meals. Applying for Free & Reduced lunch will help manage fees (like iPad Insurance or sports) and also helps our school receive additional funds and services. We encourage all families to complete the application.
