Returning to Campus in January
12/4/2020
Good Afternoon Families,
This is an update of our newsletter from November 16th.
As you are probably aware, the COVID infection rates have continued to increase in Skagit County and the governor has increased restrictions on travel and public gatherings.
Although our rates have continued to increase in Skagit and will probably continue to increase, we have not had any COVID related outbreaks on campus, therefore the County Health Department has advised us that we can continue to strategically bring students back onto campus. We are very fortunate in this respect as other disticts are finding that they need to pull back on in-person learning. We ask that you continue to do your part to ensure we can stay open.
We have committed to following the health and safety guidelines from the state to keep your students and our staff safe from infection as a result we communicate with the health department frequently about our ability to continue in-person hybrid learning.
K-3, Special Ed, and ELL currently attending in-person return January 5th.
4th-6th Grade return January 5th.
Classroom teachers and / or Mr. Dickinson will be contacting parents with additional information.
While January 5th is our goal, it may change if we are directed by the health department to delay bringing students back to campus. We will notify you through School Messenger right away if there are any changes to our plans.
7-8 Scheduled to Return Tuesday January 19th:
Parents of 7th-8th grade students will be contacted by Mr. Dickinson at the beginning of January with additional information on schedules as well as options for those choosing not to return to campus at that time.
Thank You,
Jeff Cravy, Superintendent
Tim Dickinson, Principal
How can we help our kids return to school?
The more infection rates in our area, the more restrictions we will have on bringing kids back to school!
We are all getting worn out by all of the restrictions we have on our lives to contain this virus, and we've heard this list of items a million times, but the more we do to lower infection rates the quicker we can get kids back on campus!
Encouraging friends and family to follow the health department guidelines, restrict travel, and gatherings.
- Keep your student home from school if they have traveled or been at large family or other gatherings until 10 days after the event.
- Wear a mask when in public and maintain 6 feet distance
- Limit gatherings outside your household
- Wash your hands frequently, use hand sanitizer when washing is not available
- Stay close to home and limit contact with others. Especially this time of year when air travel typically picks up. The CDC recommends that you don't travel if you are sick or have been around anyone that has had COVID in the 14 days prior to traveling.
