CIF Return to Play - COVID-19
California Department of Public Health Update
On Tuesday, April 6, the California Department of Public Health (CDPH) published updated Youth and Adult Recreational Sports Guidance.
- Required masking for youth and adult sports participants, coaches, and support staff.
- Specify that teams can return to competition only if they adhere to the stricter requirements in place for college teams, which include rigorous testing requirements around each competition following contact tracing protocols, and coordination with local health authorities.
In this guidance, the CDPH has approved outdoor high-contact sports (Orange Tier) and moderate/high contact indoor sports to play in the Red or Purple Tiers, with an adjusted case rate equal to less than 14 per 100,000 under the following conditions:
All participants in these sports must agree to and sign this Informed Consent Form.
And
Agree to weekly Saliva testing with Healthy Davis Together (HDT).
Currently, Yolo County meets this requirement that will allow some outdoor and indoor high-contact sports to begin. Please find start dates for all sports on our website.
Limitation on Observers - INDOOR
DJUSD, in consultation with the Yolo County Health Department, will admit two (2) immediate household members of student athletes for the strict purpose of supervision into home contests along with essential staff. No other fans or spectators will be admitted.
Essential staff may vary depending on the sport and contest.
CDPH Guidance:
Limit observation of youth sports (age 18 years and under) to immediate household members, and for the strict purpose of age appropriate supervision. This includes observation of practice and competition. Limit number of observers to ensure physical distance can be maintained, reduce potential crowding, and maintain indoor and outdoor capacity limits.
CDPH Limitations on Observers: OUTDOOR
On April 6 the CDPH revised their guidance to allow spectators at outdoor events following the Outdoor Seated Live Events and Performances protocols.
DJUSD, in consultation with the Yolo County Health Department, will admit immediate household members (up to 4) of student athletes for the strict purpose of supervision into home contests along with essential staff. No other fans or spectators will be admitted at this time.
Essential staff may vary depending on the sport and contest.
Blue Devil Live Stream
When safe to return indoors, events in the gyms will resume and streamed.
COVID-19 Athlete Testing
Be sure to check out the “Proud Super Tester” incentive program from the partnership between the Davis Blue Devil Athletic Boosters and Healthy Davis Together!
DJUSD Athletics continues to encourage every athlete to take advantage of FREE COVID-19 saliva testing through our partnership with Healthy Davis Together. As athletic teams continue in small pod conditioning practices, other sports are approved for competition in earlier tiers, please help us keep our athletes, staff and community safe.
We have now advanced our ability to provide testing to all athletes through our partnership with Healthy Davis Together. Many on campus teams that are currently engaged in participation will start COVID-19 saliva testing as part of their practice. Healthy Davis Together has generously offered a no appointment option for DJUSD athletes as long as they have an HDT account set up. Please take a moment to create an account for your student athlete.
If you would like your DJUSD Student Athlete tested there are two steps to complete.
1. Sign up for an HDT Account
