Take Your Child to Work Day - April 25
As a reminder we have off from school Monday - Wednesday (April 22-24) and on Thursday, April 25th Our district will be supporting the 32nd Annual “Take your Children to Work Day”.
"Take Your Child to Work Day" is an excused absence for students participating in this event. We ask that you communicate ahead of time with your child’s teacher and Mrs. Belmont in the main office if they will be missing the day.
Note from Nurse Thayer
Spring has sprung!
Please apply sunscreen to your child each day before leaving for school to prevent sun burn! Our students enjoy recess and PE and occasional academic periods out doors during the school day.
In order to prevent playground and PE injuries, please have your child wear appropriate footwear to school.
Open toed shoes and crocs may be the cause of preventable injuries.
Thank you and happy spring!
Sincerely,
Mrs. Stacey A. Thayer RN CSN School Nurse
3rd Grade Wax Museum
Our 3rd Grade students hosted a Living Wax Museum and took on the personas of people in history. They taught others about their person to the entire school. Families also visited to see the awesome work of these young historians!
Choral and Instrumental Spring Concert
Our students entertained! We witnessed wonderful performances from our Instrumental and Vocal performers! Thank you to all the families for their support, the students for sharing their talents, and Mrs. Blinsinger and Mr. Miller for organizing such a wonderful event! WE even celebrated with our traditional ending inviting all Horace Mann ES alumni to join on the stage.
National Autism Acceptance Month
We will have some great celebrations and highlights focused on Autism Acceptance.
Our students will see challenges to learn about Autism and how we accept and celebrate all differences an attributes of each other.
4th Grade Project - Homeward Bound
Elementary Summer Enrichment and Acceleration Program
This summer, CHPS is offering an in-person enrichment and acceleration program at no cost to families. The program will be offered to enrolled students entering grades 1st through 5th for the upcoming 2024-2025 school year (current 5th grade students are not eligible). Students will have the opportunity to read stories, participate in activities centered around social and emotional learning, engage in STEAM activities, and be introduced to a variety of grade-level topics.
This program will be housed at James F. Cooper Elementary School and will run Mondays, Tuesdays, and Wednesdays July 8th through July 31st from 9:30 am to 11:30 am. No transportation will be provided. Since limited seats are available, students will be selected based on a first-come, first-serve basis. Acceptance into the program will be communicated via your registered parent/guardian email.
To request that your child attend the program, please submit the “Parent Summer ES Acceleration and Enrichment Program" form, found in your Genesis Parent Access Portal (http://parents.chclc.org) under the "Forms" tab, by April 30, 2024.

Reading at home
Access to books in school and at home!
Accelerated Reader is a program that promotes reading with healthy competition.
MyON is a great online service that provides students access to thousands of books to read online. Your child is able to log in with their school username (student 7 digit id) without @chclc.org and their assigned password (hint contains the last 4 of their student ID and two additional characters). The site also helps with appropriate book selection.
Log in by going to our school's website and clicking the Quciklinks then select Accelerated Reader and MyON Online Books.
