From the Desk of Mr. Ruedinger

The school year is off to a wonderful beginning and it was great to welcome Fr. Paul Fliss back from his sabbatical at our Mass on Tuesday morning. The energy within the walls of CCA since the first day of school has been incredible. Students are eager to learn and have fun while teachers and staff are amazed how much the students have grown over the summer. We held our New Parent meeting earlier this week to help new families in their understanding our the CCA school culture and how they might be able to enhance our family by giving of their time and talents. Thank you for your continued support of CCA.

Drop Off and Pick Up Procedures

Drop Off

When dropping off your students in the morning, there are two options. One is to drive up on the school-side of Henry Street and have your child exit the vehicle in a quick manner as to not cause a back-up of cars. The second option is to park in the church parking lot and walk your child into school. All preschool parents should be parking in the parking lot, not on the street. We would prefer parents do not park on the street and then walk your child across the traffic in the morning.

Pick Up

After school, students in grades K-5 are dismissed through the church doors and are to wait for parents to walk them to their vehicles. These students are not to be walking through the parking lot without a parent or older sibling in middle school. Students in grades 6-8 are dismissed out the middle school doors and may be picked up on the school-side of Henry Street or they may walk down toward the church parking lot to secure a ride. We discourage parents from parking across Henry Street and having their child walk across traffic at this time of day. This creates an unsafe situation and places students in danger.

Church Doors Locked at 8:35 am

During school Mass days, the church doors will be locked at 8:35 am to create a safe environment for our students and parents. A church leader will sit by the entrances during Mass to allow access for people arriving after this time. Mass begins at 8:25 am.

Catholic Women's Charity Donation

Since 2001, Catholic Women's Charity Club has donated over $125,000.00 to the Catholic schools and religious education programs of the Catholic parishes of Sheboygan County. On Tuesday, Beaty Ristow and Mary Krepsky, representing the Catholic Women's Charity Club, presented CCA with a donation after Mass. We appreciate the continued support from this wonderful club and look forward to using the funds to enhance our educational programs at CCA.

You must register on-line at www.archmil.org and indicate you are associated with Christ Child Academy. If you have not previously been trained, now is a great time to attend a session.

Picture Day

Mark your calendar; Picture Day is next Thursday, September 20th. Harmann Studios will be taking your child’s picture (no order form or money needed at that time). Harmann sends home a preview of two proofs; you choose one and return the order form with your payment. If need be, picture retake day is Wednesday, October 24th.

Faye's Pizza Sale

The Faye’s pizzas sale has begun! Faye’s Pizza orders and money are due Friday, September 21st. The pick-up date is Wednesday, October 10th with pick up at 2:00 – 3:30 pm in the gym. The money made on the pizza sale assists in covering the cost of bussing, field trips, Camp Y-Koda, and many more items. Your cooperation will assist in keeping your out-of-pocket expenses to a minimum. SELL! SELL! SELL!

This is also a great opportunity for families to get started on their 20 volunteer hours. We need parents and grandparents to help sort and organize the orders on Wednesday, October 10th from 1:00 – 2:00 pm. If you are available, please email or call/text Sarah Richter at sarahags05@yahoo.com or (920) 287-5552.

MAP Testing

MAP (Measures of Academic Progress) testing will begin Monday, September 24th and continue through Friday, September 28th. MAP is a computerized adaptive test which helps teachers, parents, and administrators improve learning for all students and make informed decisions to promote a child’s academic growth. All students in grades K-8 will be tested to track their academic growth. Please do not schedule any appointments for your children during this time. It is important that the students are in attendance and well-rested, so they can do their best on the tests. Thank you for your cooperation.

Coats For Kids

The Christ Child Academy Student Service Council will once again be collecting coats for the Annual Coats for Kids Drive. Any gently used coats, hats, gloves, boots, or scarves can be dropped off in the barrel at the school’s main entrance, now through October 31st. What a great way to help those in our community and teach our children the goodness of giving. Thanks for your support!

School Mass Attire

Students are to wear their CCA polo shirts with the logo along with dress or Khaki pants or a skirt for the girls. Polo shirts are to be tucked in for both boys and girls. Any additional items such as sweaters or vests must have the CCA logo and be worn over the polo shirt. These additional items are available on the Land's End website. Yoga pants are not to be worn to Mass except under a skirt and in a solid color.

Box Tops for Education

CCA can earn money from clipping Box Tops found on various products. When you buy items, simply clip the Box Top and bring it to CCA. The Box Tops are submitted, and our school receives a check which is used towards our activity fund. It’s another easy way for you to help the school by purchasing the products you already use! Enlist your family, friends and neighbors to collect the Box Tops, too.

Attention All CCA Campers

Please join our CCA family for a fun-filled weekend at the annual CCA Camp Outing held at Kohler Andre State Park (park sticker required) on September 28 - 30. Rain or shine, camping or not, please come enjoy the camaraderie. Bring your own refreshments and an optional snack to share. If you are not a camper, stop out during the weekend for a visit. It is an excellent time for new families to get to know other school families. If there are two high school students that would like to run the children's games for two hours late Saturday afternoon, please let us know! They will earn some volunteer hours. So grab some chairs, a cooler full of drinks, marshmallows and join the fun! If you have any questions, please email Nick Reinl at nick.reinl@larrysco.com.
