Fox Den Newsletter "Expect to Grow"
Our Mission and Goals
Our mission at Fletcher Elementary, through partnership with our children, families, and communities, is to educate our students by meeting the individual needs of the whole child, ensuring successful, productive, responsible citizens while providing a safe and nurturing environment.
Congratulations on achieving 5.01 growth last year!
SIP Goal 1: Fletcher Elementary will meet or exceed expected growth and meet all Annual Measurable Objectives.
1. Our K-2 composite Reading scores will increase from 83% to 90% on grade level and our 3-5 Career and College Ready proficiency will increase from 53.3% to 75%.
2. Our K-2 math proficiency will increase from 88% to 93% on grade level and our 3-5 Career and College Ready proficiency will increase from 62.3% to 80%.
Well Not All Are Officially Retired Yet But Soon To Be . . .
We encourage everyone to bring their families to this event because we will have dinner, games, and the opportunity to send off our retirees in style! Please use the Google form below to sign up by May 20 so we will know how much food to provide.
Goodbye to Rose!
As you know by now, Rose accepted a job in the payroll department at Blue Ridge Community College. Friday, May 13 will be Rose's last day her at Fletcher so be sure to come by next week to say goodbye!
End of Year Items
Obviously at this time of year we are working hard on end of year assessments and getting ready for End of Grade tests. Please make sure your students continue to be quiet in the hallways as Reading 3D assessments occur. We want everyone to show as much growth as possible!
EOG camp begins May 16 for third through fifth grades. This is an excellent opportunity to push those "bubble" kids to passing scores because we are able to target their specific needs. An early thank you to everyone involved in this since it is vital to our students' success on their tests, which are then used to assign growth rates and our school's A-F letter grade. We want our students to have the best chance possible to be career and college ready and move up their "place in line" like they did on last year's test scores!
Students Who Owe Money
If you have a student who owes money for something (i.e. school pictures, damaged books, meals in the cafeteria, etc.), please make sure we have their names. These students will not be allowed to participate in end of year activities until all debts are clear.
State Health Plan
Here is a link for more information about possible changes to the NC State Health Plan.
Here's Mrs. Pace being congratulated by Paul Knott, Director of the Henderson County Education Foundation, on her selection as Fletcher Elementary School's Teacher of the Year. She received a certificate and a gift card from the Education Foundation as well as a bag of school supplies from Sam's Club.
Hard at Work
Students were hard at work on their math in Ms. Youngblood's class. Her students work bell to bell each day and show tremendous growth as a result. Way to go!
Our Awesome PTO
Thank you to our PTO ladies for coordinating many wonderful surprises for Teacher Appreciation Week. From popcorn to classroom supplies to everyone's favorite-duty free lunch, they once again did a great job making us all feel appreciated.
