A Message from Proud Principal, Laura Clark

This week has been HOT, HOT, HOT! For those families new to Parsons and our state, please know that Fall weather is right around the corner with a promise of cooler temperatures.

I have to say it does not seem like we are in the second week of school. Our students have settled right in with their classroom routines and procedures. Walking in and out of classrooms this week you would think they've been in school for months. This just goes to say we have the BEST teachers and students. Teaching and Learning is the priority. Parsons is one of the highest achieving schools in our district, and state, and we ALL play a role in our school's success.

I can't wait to see everyone at Curriculum Night next week!

Proud Principal,

Mrs. Clark

Introducing Our New Assistant Principal, Mrs. Sheri Tolar

Please give a warm welcome to our new Assistant Principal, Mrs. Tolar. The Gwinnett County Board of Education approved Mrs. Tolar to serve as Parsons' new Assistant Principal. She will join our school on Monday, August 19th. Mrs. Tolar will support grades 3-5, gifted programs, and school-wide testing. We can't wait for you to meet her at Curriculum Night.

Curriculum Night

We hope you'll make plans to attend Curriculum Night in your child's classroom next week. Your child's teacher will share grade level curriculum and specific information about grading, promotion, and grade level assessments. You don't want to miss out on this important event!

There will not be supervision for students on this night so if your child attends this event with you they will need to stay in the classroom with you during the presentation.

I truly believe our school is one of the BEST in the district and state because of the united commitment we have to education. Putting your child's education first, is KEY!

School Messenger Update (Texting)

Due to some recent text regulation changes by the FCC, Gwinnett County Public Schools is no longer able to use text messaging services to distribute information to parents. This includes texts and "robo calls" from GCPS School Messenger as well as third party text reminders like Remind.

At this time, please ensure we have an email address on file that you regularly check. If you have a change of email or need to add add an email address, please complete this form and return to school. You will need to show photo ID to make the change to your Parent Portal information.

We will use S'More (weekly eNews), email, our school website, eClass, Class DoJo, weekly teacher newsletters, and our school marquis as ways to communicate.

Please know the district is working diligently to find a solution, and we hope to have some alternate avenues soon for quick communications like text messaging.

Afternoon Transportation

All transportation changes must be made in writing.Whenever you need to make a change to your child's afternoon transportation plan, please complete an Afternoon Transportation Change Form, which can be found here https://www.gcpsk12.org/Page/11429 or on our school's website, and send it in to your child's teacher. We will utilize this form to create the appropriate afternoon transportation pass. Please remember the GCPS Bus Rule: No passes will be issued for play dates, birthdays, weekend sleepovers, etc. For security reasons we DO NOT accept transportation changes through phone calls or emails.

Student Checkout

Anyone checking out a child must present photo identification and be listed in our system as someone able to have access to the student. If you need to make changes to your list of approved emergency contacts, you may make changes on the Parent Portal or stop by the office to update this information. As a reminder, students may NOT be checked out after 3:00 PM.

For assistance in updating contact information on the parent portal, please visit https://www.gcpsk12.org/Page/11430.
