7th Grade Portfolio

All students enrolled in IM 7 will complete a portfolio of seven items to determine their placement into the Compacted IM 7/8 course at semester 2. One of those items is the MDTP exam. Tests and answer sheets will be distributed to site leaders at the cohort meeting 8.13.2014 but if you want it sooner please e-mail Daniel or Mimi and we will bring you your exams. To see the district recommendations please click here: 7th Grade Portfolio for Compacted Math Course

SERP poster problems can encourage problem-solving and discussion in your classroom. Lessons are currently available for 6th and 7th grade but even if you do not teach those topics the framework is worth a look. Here is a link to all of SERP's math stuff.

There are several math competitions that our students can take part in. Consider hosting one or more of these: California Math League, AMC 8, AMC 10/12, UCSD Honors Math Contest, Middle School Math Field Day (contact Cecilia Cota), Senior High Math Field Day. Let’s make SUHSD the #1 District in Math in the County!

Math Fluidity has won a grant from the National Institutes of Health to study how FluidMath affects mathematics learning. If you are teaching IM I and would like to be part of the study please sign-up here or e-mail Daniel to find out more. We need teachers who would like to use Fluid Math (experimental group) as well as teachers who are not interested in using it (control group).

Q: What textbooks should students in IM I and IM II check out?

A: 9th grade students in both courses will receive the pdf version of the Algebra 1 (Holt) book on their Ipads and a class set of Geometry (Holt) books. Students (grade 10 and above) in both courses will check-out an Algebra 1 (Holt) book while teachers will be assigned a class set of Geometry (Holt) books.
