A MESSAGE FROM MR. LUCITA

Welcome to the official first week of the 2020 - 21 school year. Although this year looks nothing like the start of school in the past, we are still going to have an awesome year and marching season!

Now that summer band has officially come to a close it is time to begin this year's standard weekly schedule. All of the band classes during the school day are virtual for the first three weeks of school. However, we will have after school rehearsal in person on Mondays and Thursdays from 5 - 8 p.m. For those students that chose to enroll virtually and not march, you will still need to prepare the marching band music for your band classes. This will be the music that will be focused on by all band students throughout the fall. We will also work on additional stand tunes during the class period as we build our musical library.

Master classes will continue throughout the fall. However, there will only be one weekly masterclass for each instrument with a focus on the Texas All State Etudes. This would be considered the level 2 masterclass from summer band. Your masterclass teacher will send you your day and time for your masterclass.

Please pay close attention to the band calendar for dates and times for all a band activities. This includes rehearsals, games, performances, etc. You may also follow this link for information concerning information about the fall football season including purchasing tickets, seating and other valuable information!

Everyone should receive a zoom link for your band class between now and Tuesday. You will follow the school's daily schedule for times. Here are a few items that you will need to ensure that you have for your band class. (Color Guard will receive information from Mr Duffy and Mr Roberson) Please have your instrument, music and stand or flip folder for class. We also ask that you have a metronome available that is NOT on the same device that you will use for your zoom class! Most importantly, practice and be prepared to play with the group, both as an ensemble member with your microphone off, and as an individual with you microphone on! Everyone plays!!

Enjoy the remainder if your holiday, and we will see you this week!!!

We ask that every family please share this brochure with anyone you know that has a business. We are eager to help promote businesses in our community that support the Jaguar Band!
