Coherence Plan Family Focus Group Sign Up Form
As we shared in the March 5th District Newsletter (here), the Franklin Public School District is in the process of refreshing our Coherence Plan for another three years. An important next step in this process for us is to gather insights and feedback from a variety of stakeholder focus groups (employees, students, families) throughout the month of April. Participants in these focus groups will have the opportunity to learn about the future of our strategic work and provide input on that direction. We are currently planning a one-hour virtual family focus group on Wednesday, April 7th from 5:30-6:30 PM. This focus group will consist of 20-25 people from across elementary, middle, and high school families. The focus group will be facilitated by Melissa Matarazzo, an external coach with the Studer Education Group.
If you are interested in participating in this focus group, please complete this interest form by Friday, March 26th (the start of Spring Break).
If we receive more than 25 requests to participate in the group, participants will be randomly selected. Please consider joining this opportunity to help shape our future strategic work. Thank you for your continued support in helping Franklin Public Schools become a better place to learn, better place to work, and part of a better community.
FHS Spring Musical Coming Soon
The Spring Musical will be held April 8-11. Students will be performing live at our Saber Center and the public can watch them from home via Live Stream. Unfortunately, there are not in-person tickets for this event other than for immediate family members of the performers. Live Stream tickets do have to be purchased in advance in order to watch the live stream of any of our (4) shows.
See more information about the show and secure a live stream ticket at our Saber Center ticketing information page here: https://www.franklin.k12.wi.us/ticket-purchasing-information
FHS AP Exam Information
It is all of our goal to once again have a smooth, safe, and successful AP exam administration this year. If you have any questions or concerns, please contact Mr. Jonas, Mr. Vuolo, or Mrs. Oost as soon as possible. We are very proud of all of your hard work on your AP courses this year, and we wish you the best as you prepare for your exams!
Spring Sports Registration Continues
Spring Sports Registration is Open - is your student planning to participate in a Spring sport?
All registration must be completed online prior to the first practice of your student's sport. Spring sport registration links are now accessible.
All athletes need a sports physical exam at least once every 2 years and cannot practice without completing the registration and having a current physical on file in the Athletic Office.
Need a new physical? Bring this form to your physician.
Exercise & Mental Health
The physical benefits of exercise — improving physical condition and fighting disease — have long been established, and physicians always encourage staying physically active.
Exercise is also considered vital for maintaining mental fitness, and it can reduce stress. Studies show that it is very effective at reducing fatigue, improving alertness and concentration, and at enhancing overall cognitive function. This can be especially helpful when stress has depleted your energy or ability to concentrate.
When stress affects the brain, with its many nerve connections, the rest of the body feels the impact as well. Or, if your body feels better, so does your mind. Exercise and other physical activity produce endorphins — chemicals in the brain that act as natural painkillers — and also improve the ability to sleep, which in turn reduces stress.
Scientists have found that regular participation in aerobic exercise has been shown to decrease overall levels of tension, elevate and stabilize mood, improve sleep, and improve self-esteem. About five minutes of aerobic exercise can begin to stimulate anti-anxiety effects.
