Letter from the Principal
Dear Tualatin Black Bear Families,
We will be returning to full day, in person school days in just a couple of weeks! We know there are a lot of questions with the return to school while still facing the COVID-19 health crisis. We learned a great deal between March and today with the successes of hybrid learning during the spring. We know that our students, families and staff contributed to the best possible finish to the school year in June.
We are once again relying on the strong family partnerships needed to responsibly open school on September 8th. Our goal is to keep our school doors open each day this year while following current safety and health guidance. We will be sharing video recorded information on Wednesday, August 25th. Then on August 26th, I will host a live question and answer Google Meet for parents at 5:00 PM for any immediate questions. Families will learn about how our school will be addressing safety, health, daily student routines, arrival-dismissal, lunch time, recess and more. This message will be recorded and available for families to review at a convenient time.
Some information to expect:
Masks required for all adults and students indoors
Masks strongly encouraged, but not required, outside
Students will be distancing at 3 feet during the school day
Adults will be distancing at 6 feet during the school day
Masks are not required while eating during lunch
We will distance students at a minimum of 3 feet during lunch
Students will have music and PE with safety measures
Family socials planned for August 28th and September 1st
Volunteer information
Virtual Family meetings will be recorded again this year so everyone has an opportunity to receive current and timely information.
August 25th - video recorded reopening message to families

Applications are good for so much more than just free meals. With an approval Letter of Eligibility families can get discounted internet, waived fees at the high school level and other scholarship opportunities outside of the district. IF there is future funding for P-EBT families in need could benefit from this greatly...but you need to apply!
Even if you are unsure if you qualify, we encourage you to apply. If you have any questions or need assistance, please contact Veronica Aguilar at 503-431-4767.
Back to School Student Verification
The verification window is now open from August 9 to September 30. Families can log into their ParentVue account to review and update their family and student information. This process ensures schools can contact families in case of an emergency and families receive important district and school updates. Families will also have the option of adding their student's vaccination status.
