Such a busy time of year! I hope everyone is taking the time to enjoy your families and friends and focus on what is truly important. Notice we have PE two days in a row this week, help them remember to wear or bring tennis shoes.
We are so pleased to welcome our new student Nithin! He fit right in and we look forward to getting to know him more. Welcome!
Our Veteran's Day program was a huge success. It was wonderful to see so many of you there and those of you that brought Veteran's for us to celebrate. The kids did an outstanding job. We were treated in the afternoon to going outside and watching the Flower Mound runners run past our school withe American flag and pass it on to our own Mrs. Brigance.
We are also so very proud of Fenway and her great accomplishment in the PTA Reflections program. Awesome job Fenway!
This Friday we will be doing colonial crafts and rotating through all of the 2nd grade rooms to try out different activities. It will be a fun day and a great way to end our week long study on Plymouth and the early settlers.
Thank you to Meah's family for coming and being our Mystery Reader 2 weeks ago. I was told that it was a big hit and the children really enjoyed it. Thank you for sharing your precious family with us.
There will not be a spelling test this week. We will take a break until after Thanksgiving.
Have a lovely week!
April McGhee
WHAT WE'VE BEEN LEARNING
LANGUAGE ARTS-We read the book Those Shoes about a little boy that didn't have much and the lessons he learned. We talked about ways we can be generous at school, home and in our community. We worked on adjectives in grammar.
SCIENCE-We are in a unit on energy and motion. We learned alot about sound and sound waves. They loved my Boom-Whackers and my lap harp. We also explored some you tube videos by the musical group Stomp. Look them up, they are amazing!
SOCIAL STUDIES-We held a mock election at OSE and had the same results as the national election. We learned alot about the electoral college and the whole process. We also learned what a Veteran is and the history of Veteran's Day.
