Expunging Grades
If your eight grade child has taken a high school credit-bearing course, while in middle school (such as Algebra, Geometry, or any World Language), you may elect to have the grade expunged from the high school record. To expunge means to completely erase record of the course taken and grade earned. Only failing grades will automatically be expunged. Once a grade is expunged, it is removed from the academic record and will not be counted in the GPA or count towards credit for graduation. The decision to expunge is irreversible.
You must complete and submit the Expunge Form via Permission Click to expunge a course. If you are choosing to expunge, please look for the Permission Click form, to be sent home when final grades are posted on Saturday, June 20. You will complete the form associated with your child’s high school. Alternatively, you may visit the website of your child’s high school on or after that date to complete the form. Please note that this form is only sent to qualifying eighth grade students and their families. All Expunge Forms must be completed by August 15, 2020.
