This week our Kindness Club held a recess event for anyone who wanted to join in on the fun! Students wrote encouraging and inspirational messages with chalk all over the playground! The Kindness Club was started by a group of students in 4th grade. They plan and run events that encourage a culture of kindness at York Center!

5 Essentials Parent Survey
The Illinois 5Essentials Survey is being conducted now through January 18, 2019, for School District 45. The link to access the survey is available at https://survey.5-essentials.org/illinois/.
District 45 teachers, all K-8 parents, and 4th through 8th grade students will have the opportunity to take the seventh annual statewide Illinois 5Essentials Survey. This survey is designed to generate a detailed picture of the inner workings of each District 45 school. Parents are afforded the opportunity to share their thoughts on the important elements of school effectiveness in a survey about their child’s school. For more information, click here.

Board of Education Candidate Information Night- 11/14
District 45 is hosting a Board of Education Candidate Information Night at 6:30 p.m. on Wednesday, November 14, at the District Administration Office, 255 W. Vermont in Villa Park.
In addition to details about the District, the roles and responsibilities of public service as a Board member will be shared.
Three seats on the School District 45, DuPage County, Board of Education will be up for election at the April 2, 2019, consolidated election.
Prospective Candidate Petition Packets for the April 2, 2019, consolidated election are now available on the DuPage County Election Commission website at http://www.dupageco.org/Election/37317/. (Listed under Candidates 2019 School Board Packet - Format 2)
Some key dates for candidates:
First day to file nomination paperwork (with the Election Commission) – Monday, December 10
Last day to file nomination paperwork – Monday, December 17 (Election Commission office will be open until 5 p.m.)
The qualifications for individuals who are interested in running for a position on the school board are:
- Must be 18 years of age
- Must be a resident of the State of Illinois and the school district for at least one year prior to the election
- Must be a registered voter and not a school trustee or school treasurer
Candidates are required to file their nomination paperwork with the office of the DuPage County Election Commission. The DuPage County Election Commission may be accessed at http://www.dupageco.org/election/
