A Message from Ms. Witley

What does online Learning look like at Selby?

Dear Selby Families,

I have seen fantastic creativity, engagement and learning in the virtual classrooms this week. As always, I am impressed by the resourcefulness and dedication of our staff, and by the resilience and commitment to learning that our families continue to demonstrate.

We are planning some School Spirit Days! We hope that many students will be able to participate in these simple, but fun days, and that it will generate a feeling of togetherness and community. Please tweet (@selbyschool) pictures of your children showing off their Selby Spirit if you choose to!

Wednesday, May 5th: Sunglasses and Hat Day

Friday, May 7th: Selby Spirit Day (wear your Selby spirit wear or purple and/or yellow!)

I miss seeing our students terribly, but do enjoy being able to see their sweet, mask-free smiles when I visit the virtual classrooms. As always, please reach out to us should you require any support: we are here to help. I hope that everyone is doing well and enjoys the weekend.

Take care,

K. Witley and our Selby Team

Students: please keep track of your points and let your teachers know how many points you have earned each Friday. The three Selby Stars with the most points at the end of May will earn a prize!

Mindfulness Meditation

This video is a guided mindfulness exercise, focusing on breathing. In these stressful times, it's important to develop ways to slow things down for a short time and learn to simply relax. The narration is simple to follow along. I encourage everyone in your family to try it. You may be surprised that it is sometimes very difficult to do at first, but the benefits are wonderful after a bit of practice.

We are hoping to reach our next level so if you help us, please do! Every little bit helps! Our next goal involves pies in the face and we are excited to make this happen :)
