Introduction
Chapter 1: Saving Nome
The deadly disease of diphtheria (dif-theer-ia) strikes the Alaskan town of Nome. The only medicine is 700 miles away in Nenana, AK. In the winter, planes are taken apart, roads are blocked off, and railroad tracks freeze. There is only one more resort, dogsled. Dogsleds were still in use and the Iditarod trail worked in the 1920,s. A relay of dog teams were set up. All the best teams from 20 villages were set up. The medicine got to Nome in just over 6 days! That's fast!

Chapter 6: The Trail
The Iditarod race starts in Anchorage with a ceremony. Before, theres a race called the junior Iditarod. When the Iditarod starts, the mushers follow 50 miles of rode to Knick. Then they go to the kuskowhim river. After that, if its an even year they go on the northern route and if its an odd year they go south. This alows different villages to see the race. At the end of the split you'll be in Kaltag. Then you go to Unalakleet. After that, you follow the berring sea to Nome. This year theres a lack of snow in Anchorage so they need to start in Fairbanks. Im not so sure about the trail but I do no that my aunt in Fairbanks is psyched!
