Math, Science, and Social Studies
Decimals-We will also continue to work on our decimal module. This week we will model equivalent decimals of tenths and hundredths using the area model. We will also model mixed numbers in expanded form and on place value charts.
Great math websites students can work on at home:
www.zearn.org (students know their login information and it's a class favorite)
www.frontrowed.com (Curtright: yq2jji and Foster: nacfwn)
www.sumdog.com (most students remember their logins from last year, but they can make their own account free of charge)
Students will be able to access Zearn and Front Row throughout the summer with their current logins. This will be great practice to keep up math skills through summer break.
Reading, Writing, Vocab and Word Study
Grammar--We will be focusing on figurative language this week during our grammar time. We will specifically look at metaphor and personification this week.
Reading--We will be wrapping up theme and main idea this week. Students will have a quick assessment on Tuesday. We will then be starting a whole class novel, Tales of a 4th Grade Nothing by Judy Blume. We will be reviewing all the reading concepts we've learned (ex: prediction, character traits, theme analysis, etc) with this book.
Writing--In Writing, we will be working on a final writing push before state testing. We will be reviewing "how to read a prompt", tranistion words, word choice, precise nouns, and "show don't tell".
