Shannon Park Math Masters Compete!

Our ten Shannon Park Math Masters had a fabulous competition on Saturday, April 23, at Salem Hills Elementary in Inver Grove Heights. Everyone worked hard and had a great time! It was a long morning of math fun. Team one, The Amazing Math Minds, included of Joe K., Clancy N., Kellen G., Emma C., and Liz Z. Team two, The Flaming Blueberries, included Emmitt B., Brady F., Angus W., Arabella K. and Ava K. Thank you to our Alternate, Xander C.!


There were 19 teams and 96 students taking part in the competition. In the Fact Drill round, Joe K. placed 3rd, and Emmitt B. placed 9th overall. In the individual rounds, Joe K. placed 2nd overall, and Emmitt B. placed 6th. In the team rounds, The Amazing Math Minds took 3rd place overall and The Flaming Blueberries took 9h place. A very impressive showing! Congratulations!

SP DaCapo Choir Family Day at Target Field: Sunday, May 29 - Purchase Tickets by May 2!

Shannon Park has received a great discount on tickets to an upcoming Twins game for students, staff and families to attend. (Sunday, May 29, at 1:10p.m.). In addition, the Shannon Park DaCapo Choir will sing the National Anthem before the game. DaCapo Choir Members: All singers will need to purchase a ticket to the game if they are attending the game. For any student(s) and family members attending, please return the form below by Monday, May 2, 2022. CHECKS ONLY - NO CASH should be made out to "Minnesota Twins." Please return orders in an envelope marked Minnesota Twins game. IF you are interested in attending but a financial hardship is involved, please email Sari Malterud, SP Social Worker, at sari.malterud@district196.org. Each family is responsible for their own transportation. If you have any questions, please email SP Volunteer Coordinator, Beth Johnson, at beth.johnson@district196.org. Please complete attached form below if you will be attending to send in with the money.

"Shocking" News in 4th Grade

Mr. Jon Burt came to teach Mrs. Grothe's 4th grade class about different types of electricians, how electricity gets to our homes, how are houses are wired, and even some formulas used to figure out how much voltage is going through the power lines!

Ragamala Indian Dance Theater Coming to Shannon Park!

On Wednesday, May 4, students will receive a short introductory lesson about the Bharatanatyam dance and music of India in music or art class prior to the performance.

Show Your School Spirit: Dress like the 80's

The 80's are back! The Kindness Council invites all students and staff to participate in "Dress Like the 80s" Day on Friday, May 20.

Raffle Tickets - Check Your Child's Backpack!

The Shannon Park Picnic Raffle tickets went home with all students on Friday, April 29. This raffle historically has been a much anticipated part of our picnic and a great fundraiser for our school. Participation in the raffle is optional and all raffle proceeds will go towards the Shannon Park Site Council. Each raffle ticket can be purchased for $1.00 and each student was provided with 10 tickets in the envelope. There will be three tickets pulled at the Shannon Park Birthday Party Picnic at 6:45p.m. on May 19, 2022, and the prizes include an Oculus Quest 2, Rainbow High dollhouse, and Lego City Hospital. When you are finished selling/purchasing the raffle tickets, please enter requested contact information on each ticket and return sold and unsold ticket stubs with cash collected in the provided envelope. Please make any checks payable to Shannon Park Booster Club. If opting out of the raffle, please return unsold/blank tickets to school in the envelope provided by Monday, May 16.
