The Gainesville High School concert band competed at the UIL Concert and Sightreading contest at Argyle High School on Thursday, April 13. The band earned a 2-2-2 on stage and a 1-1-1 in sightreading. “I am very proud of the students and their work this year, and look for great things to happen in the years ahead,” Band Director Russ Rutherford said. The students were able to perform with confidence in their new formal wear.

The GHS and GJHS bands will perform a community concert on Thursday, May 18, at 6:30pm at the GISD Auditorium.

The Multi-Purpose Facility at GHS is coming along nicely, with the metal framing progressing every day. The current field house is concurrently being restructured to the new design and the framework is laid for the portion in between the two buildings. This area will be Coach Polk's office and the new training room in the front, with a hallway directly to the north, and the new weight room on the other side. The road to Leopard Stadium is complete, and runs between the new structure and the baseball field.

The new Band Hall will be a beautiful addition to the Lee campus. The beginner band program has outgrown the portable and will be in the new room to start the year off right.
