CB West's Mock Trial Team

CB West’s Mock Trial team successfully defended their case in court against Bensalem High School on Tuesday evening, February 9. The case was argued at the Bucks County Courthouse in front of lawyers who volunteer their time to serve as judge and jurors for the Pennsylvania Statewide High School Mock Trial Competition. The Bensalem Mock Trial team represented the fictional plaintiff Lilienthal Insurance Company well, and did their best to prove that the fictional Natural Habitat Preserve was responsible for an accident involving a drone that left a young man paralyzed. However, in representing the Preserve, CB West was able to prove that the accident was, in fact, an accident. West’s defendant legal team, Macella Molinari, Ashley Jia and Mady Winkler were stellar in their roles and in their careful preparation of their client’s case. Witnesses for the defendant, Sarah Ernst, CJ Fay and Alex Morrow were very believable on the stand and held up admirably during difficult cross examinations.

Our Mock Trial team was back in court on Thursday, February 11. This time they argued for the plaintiff against the team from Archbishop Wood High School. Plaintiff legal team Eliza Prestley, Rob Hughes and Vijay Balaji directly examined witnesses Rachel Swope, Jack Quinn and Lauren DiAngelo. The goal of the plaintiff was to prove that the “accident” was indeed intentional and that the drone involved was materially modified in a way that affected the drone’s airworthiness. Once again, the CB West Mock Trial Team prevailed. They will now move to the semi-final round next week.

AP Exam Registration

Advanced Placement exams will be administered at CB West during the first two weeks of May (dates and times of AP Exams are determined by College Board). This year, students will register for their AP Exams through the online service, My Payments Plus. All students who are enrolled in an AP class (or classes) this school year will receive the AP Bulletin and a letter outlining how to register/pay online for their AP exams. Students will receive this information in their Advisories on Friday, February 12. Once students receive their letter and the AP Bulletin, they may register for their AP Exams (registration window is open from February 15 – March 15, 2016). Any questions regarding AP exam registration should be directed to the Guidance Office, 267-893-2512.
