Cadets of the Month
Congratulations to all of the students nominated for and those who were selected as our February Cadets of the Month!
Teacher and Staff Member of the Month
Be the "I" in KIND
Look who was caught being KIND! Kailyn let a peer borrow her art supplies to complete an assignment. Mya saw that a student needed extra support, and voluntarily pulled up a chair to help review math skills with her. Boe and Kyle tell their teachers hello and good morning and make them smile each day. Garret volunteered to paint clipboards for his teacher to add some color and character to the classroom. It's small acts like these that make our school a great place!

Men In Action
Men in Action, through Sheltering Wings of Hendricks County, reads to all elementary schools in Hendricks County on March 16th. They are in need of men - dads/grandpas/uncles/neighbors... If you'd like to volunteer follow the link to register.
STOPit
MCCSC is transitioning to a new anonymous reporting tool. Formerly students/community members could use the Quick Tip button to submit an anonymous report regarding building safety issues in our schools. We will now be using Stopit. See the below image for more details. Students can download the mobile app for STOPit to report issues to our SROs and school administrators. This new tool will give school leaders greater communication when alerted to an event and will help provide ongoing data for us to analyze to help make our schools the safest environments that they can be. We will also include a direct web link button on each week's newsletter (once it's active), just like we did with the Quick Tip.
SRO Update
The detectives division at the Hendricks County Sheriff’s Office has seen a rise in “catphishing” scams against juveniles stemming from suspects outside of the United States. Often, the scammers will display a stock image found on the internet and create a profile using the picture. Once the juvenile has followed or friended the suspect, the suspect will often ask for inappropriate images of the juvenile in an attempt to blackmail them for money or additional images. Below are some steps you can take should your child possibly be the victim of these scams:
DO NOT FOLLOW OR FRIEND ANYONE THAT YOU CAN NOT VERIFY THEIR IDENTITY!
If your child has disseminated inappropriate images, your child’s electronic device should undergo an “erase all content”.
ALL social media accounts associated with the scam should be restarted under a new profile name, profile picture, and create a new password.
Help your child to change passwords on social media and block suspect(s) they have communicated with.
Photos will typically be backed-up in the cloud as well, these will need to be deleted.
If after taking all possible steps, the problem persists, contact law enforcement. You may be required to surrender the electronic device to officers in order for them to erase all content and prevent further victimization.
ILEARN Dates
With the start of the Spring Semester, IN state standardized testing will be here before we know it! The mandated dates for ILEARN testing this year will be from April 17th - May 12th. Students will not be testing during that entire time. That is the window the state provides for all schools to complete testing for all students. CMS students will begin testing on April 24th and will finish by May 8th. The remainder of that week will be used for make up testing. These dates are provided for your family planning purposes. These tests are what the state uses to determine how well our students are mastering the IN state standards on those subjects that are tested. When students miss school during this window, they have to make up the assessments, which typically result in lower results.
Updates from the Cafeteria
To deposit money into your child's lunch account electronically visit myschoolbucks.com to create an online account. Students can also bring in cash to lunch, but sometimes that money gets stuck in pockets instead of deposited with the cafeteria staff. Students may bring a lunch from home on any day they choose.
Click the boxes Below to submit a student or teacher brag!
Has your student participated in something outside of school where they have been honored/awarded? We want to recognize those students who are engaged in service opportunities/extra curricular organizations outside of school and receive some mark of distinction. Use the Student Brag box below to let us know what to recognize your student for!
Is there a teacher at CMS who went above and beyond recently? Use the Teacher Brag box to let us know what special thing that teacher did for your student, so that we can celebrate and recognize them!
New Online Admin Meets
Starting prior to Spring Break, Mr. Blickenstaff and Mr. Hansel will begin hosting bi-monthly virtual chats with parents from 7:10 - 7:40 on Mondays. We will post the link in the newsletter and on socials the week prior to each meeting. These meetings will be informal and are designed simply to increase the amount of communication between the school and our parents. It's your time to ask any questions and receive direct feedback. We will probably start with general info, but will probably expand to a weekly topic to guide each meeting.
