Principal Update - Adventure Awaits!

I hope that you and your family are enjoying the beautiful weather this weekend. We had a great week of school! Our first graders kicked off their Fall Project Based Learning Unit with a field trip to Raven Run on Friday. The students were so excited to have time to explore the nature sanctuary. Soon they will learn how their experience will help them find ways to save local wildlife.


Tomorrow is the first day of our Fall Book Fair! We are also excited to celebrate grandparents tomorrow and Tuesday. On Thursday we are excited to open our doors to families for our 23-24 Open House. This is a chance for you to visit the complex and find more detailed information about the grade level and some experiences provided at each grade. Our PTA is hosting their first general meeting on Thursday night before Open House at 5:30. We hope you can come early to vote on this year's budget and find ways to get involved with our PTA.


We look forward to welcoming all of our students back into the building tomorrow for more days of learning and growing together. Thank you for your continued partnership as we work together to reach our full potential and to provide opportunities for our students to be a positive force in our changing world!

While this school’s meals will continue at no charge for the 2023-24 school year (through the National School Lunch Program’s CEP-Community Eligibility Provision), it is still important that families who would qualify (Free/Reduced) meal assistance, to fill out an application every school year. This is a great support to our families but also provides funding and resources for Dixie. We use these funds to support our family nights, PBL, and additional staff which are all vital to our school.


  • Income guidelines are below that may help determine if you should complete the application.
  • If your child recently received an approval of direct certification (DC) benefits letter for this 2023-24 SY, you do not need to fill out the form.
  • Only one form per family needed, and it only takes a few minutes.

Grandparents Lunch

In honor of Grandparent’s Day, Dixie Elementary would like to invite grandparents to have lunch with their grandchildren on September 11th for students with the last name A-M and September 12th for students with the last name of N-Z.


What you need to know to celebrate…

  • The time your grandchild eats lunch (please arrive 15 minutes early).

  • An adult lunch costs $5.00 (please bring exact change or a check). You are welcome to bring a packed lunch from home, but please no food from a restaurant.

  • Don’t forget the Book Fair is in the library!
