- 10% Growth on ELA AND MATH on State Assessments - MSTEP.
- 60% of scholars will meet their yearly NWEA Growth Target in ELA and Math.
90% SCHOLAR PERSISTENCE -It is important that our scholars stay with Trix Academy in order to see the Academic Growth they need to be High School Ready!
90% STAFF RETENTION - Keeping our staff in place year after year also ensures that not only are relationships built with our scholars and families, mastery in instruction is also taking place.
95% AVERAGE DAILY ATTENDANCE - Scholars have to be in the building daily in order to learn. We want to build and foster a community of learning that values daily attendance.
A MESSAGE FROM PRINCIPAL PERKINS
42 Days Left in Quarter 2
Good evening Family,
I hope everyone enjoyed getting an extra hour of rest as we adjust our time for Daylight Saving this year. Quarter 2 is off to a great start. Report cards have been mailed so please be on the lookout for your scholars Quarter 1 final grades. Quarter 2 Parent-Teacher-Conference are in December so please encourage your scholars to continue to work hard in Q2 as well.
One thing I want to focus on this week with parents is, scholars exhibiting self control and respect. The past few weeks we have had to address scholars hitting and or saying unkind things to each other. It is important for scholars to show respect and care for each other. This included keeping their hands to themselves and using words that are appropriate and kind, even when "playing".
During tomorrow monthly assembly Dean Hayes will address these topics with scholars but we want to ask parents to support us in talking to your scholars about appropriate school behavior. We will continue to redirect scholars accordingly but parent support is important.
There is NO SCHOOL on Tuesday, November 8th!! Please use this time to exercise your right to vote.
Let's WIN THE WEEK!!!
Ms. Perkins
A Message from Dean Hayes
Teaching Children to Communicate Your Feelings Without Being Physical
Being physical or using physical contact with another person is something we hear about and see everyday, but there are many things parents can do to help prevent their children from using physical contact to resolve conflict or communicate with another person. Homes and schools should be safe havens for children.
The following guidelines help parents reinforce children’s positive behaviors and reduce aggression. Using these tips, parents can teach their children to be nonviolent and to communicate their feelings.
- Model positive behaviors
- Reinforce positive behaviors
- Build your child's self esteem
- Set limits such as no hitting, no name calling
- Explain to your child what it does to another child, how it makes them feel
- Talk to your children and listen to them because this teaches them how to talk about their feelings instead of being physical
- Monitor what your child sees on TV, video games and on the computer
- Teach tolerance and how it builds character
