PRE-K 4 NEWS!
JUAN DIEGO ACADEMY APRIL 27, 2016
ANNOUNCEMENTS:
Dear Parents,
It was wonderful to see most of you in our field trip to the museum. Thanks for coming and sharing time with your children. They had a very good time and enjoyed all the toys and games.
Remember that our next field trip will be on May 26th to the P.T. Defiance Zoo so please mark your calendars and if you have not let Sra. Farias know if you will be present, please kindly do so as soon as possible. It will be easier to plan it. Please let them know if you are members so you can be excluded from the # of tickets being requested. Also if you are not planning on having your child attend, we must know this now. Thank you parents!! Tickets are non-refundable and we don’t want to be stuck with 9.00 tickets because we were not informed that you were not planning to attend. We are required to let the zoo know by May 12th. We will leave the school at 9:20 a.m. and return at 1:30 p.m. The following information is needed:
___I will attend with my child, ____I will attend with my child and drive other children,
_____I will not attend but my child will go. _______My child will not be attending. ____I am a Zoo member and do not need to purchase tickets.
We will need carpool drivers. You must have taken the Safe Environment classes for parents before driving other children. You must also have a Driver's form filled out in the office. Two safe environment classes are being offered right now at the following locations: (remember, the class will be good for 3 years)
If you have NOT taken your Safe environment Virtus course, do not panic! There is a safe environment training class Wednesday, April 27 at St. Patrick's Catholic Church at 6:30 PM. Families that did not go through the training this year and will have children returning next year, take your class now and it will take care of this requirement. Having this course will allow you to participate in field trips and all aspects of volunteering that you may want to pursue. Might make things easier in the fall for your family. :)

Curriculum News:
Oral Language/Science. Let’s Find Out/Mi Weekly Reader! ¿Puedes decir “croac”? Can you say “croac”? This lesson will help children relate visuals to text. Also we learn animal characteristics as living things, as well as life cycle. We will learn about the process of the metamorphosis in some animals such as the frog and the butterfly. We will see ¡Orugas coloridas! Color caterpilars.
Math. Review of numbers and trace number 9.
Religion. We Follow the Rules. In this lesson will talk about how it is a parent’s job to help children understand what they should do, and it is the child’s job to listen to his/her parents and do what they say. We will talk about how parents and children have special “jobs” in a family.
Estrellita Phonics: Review all letter sounds to begin the lesson. The letters N, n is our focus for this week again due to the different letter sounds it makes when paired with different vowels (niño, nido). Children will learn new words that begin with these consonant sounds. Children will be tracing and writing the letter forms and learning songs related to the letter sounds.
Have a wonderful week,
Blessings,
Sra. Raquel L., Sra. Farías and Sra. Laura P.
