What is Ebola?
The Ebola Virus is an extremely serious and death causing disease. This Virus can be spread from animals to humans and eventually from humans to humans.
Where Did This Virus Come From?
In 1976 was when scientists initially found or detected the virus. This took place in Sudan and the Democratic Republic of Congo. Due to the locations researches decided to name the virus after the river that flows along the Congo, The Ebola River.
Why Should We Be Alarmed?
This Ebola Virus has been around for more than 35 years. Though Despite that fact, the outbreak that occurred in march, 2014 has proven to be the most deadly, most severe, and mostly spread than all the other outbreaks from before.
On August 8, 2014, the World Health Organization (WHO)
declared that the current Ebola outbreak is a Public
Health Emergency of International Concern (PHEIC). This declaration called for the need of a coordinated international response in order to help contain the spread of this deadly virus (Hhs Ebola Overview Template).
Knowing that this is the largest Ebola outbreak in history and the first Ebola epidemic the world has ever known is pretty alarming and something to definitely be concerned of. In addition, due to the magnitude of this outbreak the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention's (CDC) response is also the largest outbreak response in CDC's history.
