Message from the Principal

Hello Fellow Falcons and Happy Friday,

I hope that you were able to enjoy the Easter holiday by attending Mass and spending some quality time with your families. It's very hard to believe that we only have 39 days of school left in this school year. Thank you to everyone who was forthcoming with your spring break and Easter holiday travel plans. It is in everyone's best interest to keep reporting any travel-related plans and close contact or Covid positive cases to the office. We are doing our best to continue to provide in-person instruction throughout the remainder of the school year.

Please continue to report close contact or Covid positive cases to the office. The most recent guidance is posted below.

Close Exposure

Vaccinated individuals who are a close contact to a confirmed COVID-19 case are not required to quarantine if they meet all of the following criteria:

  • Are fully vaccinated (i.e., are ≥2 weeks following receipt of the second dose in a two-dose COVID-19 vaccine series or ≥2 weeks following receipt of one dose of a single-dose COVID-19 vaccine).
  • Have remained asymptomatic since their last contact with the infected person; and
  • Are not inpatients or residents in a health care setting.

Fully vaccinated individuals who are not required to quarantine should monitor their health for 14 days after their last contact with the infected person. If they experience symptoms, they must self-isolate pending clinical evaluation and COVID-19 testing. Vaccinated persons must also continue to adhere to all recommended protective measures, including, but not limited to, wearing a mask (and utilizing job-specific PPE), maintaining physical distance, practicing hand hygiene, and avoiding crowds and poorly ventilated spaces.

Non-vaccinated individuals must quarantine for 14-days following close contact to a confirmed COVID-19 case.

Peace and joy,

Kari Rybarczyk

COVID-19 Response Topics

School Notification

● Parents should notify school immediately if:

○ Student isn’t feeling well

○ Student is going to have a COVID test

■ Student test results (positive and negative)

○ Student or family member in household has been in close contact with someone who has tested positive

○ Someone in the household has tested positive

Next Steps

● School gathers information to file report with the OCS Nursing staff

○ When was the student last in school

○ Who were they with?

■ Cohort

■ Bus

● School files report within 4 hours of notification

● OCS Nursing staff follow up to provide the following possible items:

○ Individual Quarantine information

○ Close Contact and Casual Contact communications

○ Health Department tracing report

School Communication

● Only after the OCS Nursing staff provide their report does the school send out communication either close contact or casual contact. This can take some time, so if families or students choose to share their information with others prior to the school reports being completed, there is a lag in school communication.

● Through contract tracing and reporting there is a possibility that families are not notified if the individual hasn’t been at school for a number of days, so again if individuals share their personal information, there may be a void of communication for the school because it isn’t warranted.

Close Contact

● If your student is sent home because of a close contact, they should be monitored and avoid all public gatherings during that close contact quarantine period. I know this is difficult as they may feel fine and have no symptoms, but during this time they could be developing a viral load and become symptomatic within that window and then would have exposed people.

Infection Control

Faithful citizenship is key. We expect our families to take personal responsibility for the common good as well as their own safety. We rely on parents to keep children home when they are sick. Sometimes it is hard to tell in the morning if a child is truly ill or just having a hard time waking up. Please err on the side of caution during this time. Children should not come to school if they are experiencing any of the following symptoms:

  • Fever or chills

  • Cough

  • Shortness of breath or difficulty breathing

  • Fatigue

  • Muscle or body aches

  • Headache

  • New loss of taste or smell

  • Sore throat

  • Congestion or runny nose

  • Nausea or vomiting

  • Diarrhea

It is important that you contact your doctor and follow the advice of a trained medical professional before returning to school. Please do not administer fever-reducing, cough, or stomach settling medicine and send sick students to school. While it may be an unexpected inconvenience for you in the morning, we believe this is a much better alternative than having to close the entire school because of an outbreak. You are instrumental in helping us to control COVID-19. Please let your employer know of our policy in advance. We need your cooperation now more than ever.

Thank you to those families who were extra cautious this week!! Your support means the world to us!

Students are permitted to wear St. Bede School spirit wear shirts/sweatshirts with their uniforms on Fridays during the school year. We are excited to show off our St. Bede School PRIDE in our community!! GO FALCONS!! If you need additional information, please contact the main office.

God Box

The God box is located in the main lobby area. If you would like to write a special intention for you or someone you know please place it in the God box. We will bring the box to church with us on Fridays and Father George will randomly pick one intention to read during mass. All intentions will be offered up to God in prayer. Please feel free to call the office and we can add your intention to the box if you are not able to.
