Westwood Community Update
Covid-19 & School Closure Information - Volume 9
VIRTUAL OPEN HOUSE COMING SOON!!
#WildcatPride
As we wrap up the year, I would like to thank all of you for the tremendous support you have given our Wildcat community! That has been no easy task this year, as we have faced many challenges - from class changes to smoke days to school closure. Every minute you took to read to your child, to support distance learning, to help with projects, to meet with child's teacher, to volunteer, etc. has made a huge impact and has helped us continue to move forward! I hope you all will join me in extending a special thanks to the members of our PFC Board Members (and their families) who have devoted countless hours and energy into providing service and support to our entire community in a variety of ways: Denise Huffman Cruz (President), Meghan Dryden (Vice President), Jennifer Chambers (Treasurer), and Jenny Burnett (Secretary). I would also like to thank the parent members of our School Site Council, who have met monthly to help develop and monitor our School Plan for Student Achievement and make decisions related to our school budget: Rusty Brian, Jennifer Bamberger, Megan Dryden, Denise Huffman Cruz, and Ashith Bolar.
For those of you interested in continuing learning over the summer, your child's Clever account will be available through July 31st. You can also check out the district's Parent Information Page for resources related to academic support and counseling. These resources will be updated throughout the summer. Also, recent events in our country have brought attention, once again, to the inequities that continue to exist for people of color in our society. In response, MDUSD staff is compiling resources to support families with talking with their children about race and racialized violence. Together, we can work to insure that our community stands against persistent racism, oppression, and violence; and that we provide an environment where equity, diversity, and inclusion are honored. Every single Wildcat and family should feel safe and supported by our school community. Please let us know if you need help! Here are just a few resources I encourage you to check out:
It has been an unprecedented time in education, and I am so grateful to be part of this amazing community that has stood together through it all! I wish you all a summer filled with fun and family!
Sincerely,
Nancy Klinkner, Principal
