Weir Middle School Monthly Newsletter-FEBRUARY 2024
February News for everything Weir Middle School!
MESSAGE FROM THE PRINCIPALS
Happy February and welcome to the second half of our school year.
As we enter the month of February, we have a lot to recognize and celebrate! Some of this month's notable recognitions are Black History Month, National Random Act of Kindness Day, and National School Counseling Week. Please see below any plans regarding honoring these important events.
February tends to bring inclement weather to our area. Please be sure to stay tuned to any school closing announcements via our all call system, Facebook WMS Group, or our local media outlets. A fantastic site to check out for delays and cancellations is through the West Virginia Department of Education called school closings at a glance. Please click this link to be directly sent to that site: https://wvde.state.wv.us/closings/at-a-glance
Progress Reports will be sent out on Friday, February 16th. If you do not receive your child's progress report, that means it may not have made it home with them. Ask them if they have it. If they do not, please contact us and we will be happy to print out another copy. Always remember, parents can monitor their student's grades on LiveGrades. This up to the minute account will show you your students current progress in all of their classrooms. If you do not have a LiveGrades log in, please contact your student's homeroom teacher and we will be happy to send you the information. We have found that the best way for a student to succeed is for the parents and students to come together at home and set time to check their grades together weekly. LiveGrades is also a great way to communicate with the teachers. Please contact them should you have any questions regarding your child's performance in their classrooms.
All Hancock County Schools will be closed on Monday, February 19th in observance of Presidents' Day. Enjoy your day off!
Friendly reminder pertaining to Student End of the Day Pick up: In the pursuit of safety and timeliness, parents/guardians are asked to line up outside of the school in two lines. Please refrain from parking off the side of the road and asking your child to walk through the parking lot traffic. This could potentially be a safety hazard. PRO Officer Dennis will be outside directing traffic and will do his best to get everyone out safely and as quickly as possible. Please keep in mind, we have buses that arrive later and will need access to the bus pick up area, it is important we keep this clear for our bus drivers.
We at WMS would like to thank you for your continued support and for the opportunity to educate your child.
